God, man, that mask is absolutely killing my eyes. You could see it from space. It gives me that same cheap vibe as when Tom Cruise was messing around with those masks in Mission Impossible.🤷

Plummer actually looks somewhat similar, though.☕

Just watched it. It's good! Now, if you're wondering if this is strictly how it went down in real life... well, they eventually justify it by saying it's just based on true events, and that certain characters were added just for the drama and stuff 😛

Still, it works really well as a blend of drama and thriller. Nothing feels over the top to me. The pacing is just right. It’s a bit textbook and predictable in spots, but that doesn't ruin the whole vibe.

Christopher Plummer is absolutely perfect for this role, though I can't help but wonder how Spacey would have handled it 😬 Honestly, all that hype surrounding this movie gives it a bit of a negative vibe for me. But it's undeserved—at the end of the day, it's a great story used really well.

Paul Getty and that infamous kidnapping. It’s got heavy hitters like Donald Sutherland and Brendan Fraser leading the charge, which honestly makes the timing feel pretty spot on.

As for the movie itself, whenever the directing felt a bit shaky, the soundtrack just felt totally disjointed and poorly picked, though it's an okay watch overall. It keeps you hooked for those two hours without any boring stretches, but yeah, that's about it. There were moments where, even with Christopher Plummer giving such a killer performance, I found myself wondering how on earth that scene with Kevin Spacey actually looked in person.

Weak, sterile movie. The music was supposed to be one of the main draws based on the trailer (The Zombies - Time of the Season), but they wasted it on some totally irrelevant scene at the start that most people probably won't even notice. If there had been any directorial insight, they could have used it to beef up the climax—assuming Ridley Scott actually knew how to build one.

The old man didn't actually die the night the kid was freed; he died three years later. Because the plot was stretched so thin, the whole thing felt tedious and lacked a real peak. I spent the entire runtime fighting off boredom because it felt like the story just couldn't find its footing, which is its biggest flaw.
A bright spot? Based on those clips I saw in the trailer a few months back, Christopher Plummer felt like a much better, more authentic choice than Kevin Spacey, who looked like he was wearing a cheap plastic mask thanks to some terrible aging makeup.

Never heard of it. Just watched the trailer and it actually looks decent. It seems to dive deeper into what the kid was going through, and from what I can tell, they change some key parts of the story, like how the kidnapping actually went down.
Hopefully, the show gives us a more grounded take on everything and avoids that limp feeling the movie had. I mean, I-Told You I'm a B*tch is a total spectacle. In every sense of the word.

I honestly feel like Ridley Scott swapped out Kevin Spacey for Christopher Plummer for reasons that have nothing to do with the pedophilia allegations, because let’s be real—Plummer is the only thing keeping this whole movie afloat.
I can't even imagine what this would've looked like with a masked-up Spacey; it would've been an absolute train wreck.
I didn't get the vibe that this was a coherent piece of work at all. The movie just can't decide if it wants to be something great or just total garbage, and by the end, it basically loses its mind like a toddler having a tantrum.
The kidnapping isn't even portrayed properly, and they didn't really nail Getty's character either. Such a waste.

The ending saves it somewhat, though; it actually gives you a moment to sit back and think.

I couldn't find a way to connect with it at all; it felt pretty lukewarm and honestly quite boring.

It’s kind of meh. Don't get me wrong, it's not like everything is garbage, but it just doesn't leave much of an impression. Which is weird, because the whole story—and it actually happened—is pretty fascinating and straight-up bizarre. Aside from how they handled the old Rockefeller guy, which was top-tier execution. I honestly don't know if the dude was truly that insane, but you really have to be on another level to come up with the idea of paying only a fraction of the ransom—specifically, just the part that qualifies you for a tax write-off. 🙂 Probably the most twisted thing I've ever heard.
