Getting discharged from a hospital in Germany

Hi everyone! I was wondering if anyone here knows what kind of rights healthcare patients actually have in Germany.

Here is the specific situation. My dad is working in Germany and has health insurance there. He’s been sick for about six months now, and they still haven't figured out what's wrong. They've run every test imaginable, but nothing. Since they can't pinpoint the issue, they want to put him through a pretty invasive procedure based entirely on guesswork.

He’s refusing (which seems justified), and now they’re trying to kick him out of the hospital. I'm wondering if they can actually do that—just discharge a sick man like this?

My second question is about whether he can transfer to a different hospital, given how unhappy he is with the overall care and the way they're treating him at this facility.

Go drop your question in that thread about moving to Germany. There are people over there who have been settled in for ages and probably actually know their way around patient rights.
