Hey there!

First off, sorry if I’m looking at the wrong file here.

So, my husband has had this "thing" on his lower lip for about a month now. It's really bothering him and just won't go away, so he started Googling it (yeah, I know, Google is basically the worst when it comes to medical stuff). The only thing even remotely similar he could find was skin cancer. We're obviously going to see a doctor ASAP because his job is super high-stress, he's a smoker, and honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if that's what it is. I'm trying my best to keep him calm until we get an actual professional opinion, but he asked me to post this here, hoping maybe someone might have some smart advice... I've attached the photo below. Thanks 🙂

As far as my own understanding goes, if something were truly dangerous, I imagine it would be a darker shade—specifically purple. I don't think we're looking at anything catastrophic here. In any case, we should probably just wait until the official word comes out soon.

Keep in mind the photo quality is pretty terrible...
But it looks like a cluster of tiny bumps all grouped together. At this stage, they sit slightly above the lip line, so they almost look like little blisters to me.
Now... I hate to say it, but it's possible this could be a condyloma... which is caused by HPV.
If that's the case, without even touching him, you should head straight to a clinic for testing... IF... it actually turns out to be a condyloma.
It might not be that. But if it is... and you're clean... well, then you've got some serious marriage counseling to do.
