What on earth happened to this forum? Why has the quality dropped so much?

Here's the deal: under current policy, expressing an opinion can get you flagged for trolling.
So, if my take doesn't align with a specific moderator's view, I get a warning for trolling? Is that how this works?

I'm not here to complain about specific warnings—there's a separate thread for that. This is more of a general observation, because I think you all know exactly what I'm getting at. It seems like the moderation direction is just shutting down any dissenting voices by labeling them "trolls."

You've hit rock bottom. You're basically allowing discussions from only one side of the political spectrum. Anything else that doesn't fit your narrative gets labeled as trolling.

This used to be a great place for actual debate where people could go back and forth. Now, that's becoming impossible given the way things are being moderated.

Everything you just said is exactly why this whole site is slowly dying a slow death. Just look—and I know you'll catch this since you've been around long enough to know better—just compare the activity in the politics section today to what it was a few years back. Back then, a hot topic would rack up ten pages of replies in a single day. Nowadays? You're lucky if you get one or two pages, if you even get anything at all. A huge chunk of the conservative users left for good, and sure, they tried to explain their reasons before they walked, but the moderators wouldn't hear a word of it. Basically, the rule around here is that the moderators are always right, no matter what—as Americans would say. Whatever the issue, they're right, and no appeal is ever valid. That exact attitude is what's killing the traffic. And when an online forum loses its audience, advertisers stop caring, which means the revenue dries up, which means the site goes under. It’s simple math. This place is on an unstoppable slide toward the end, and honestly, the users themselves are the ones driving it there.
