On this specific subforum (specifically the Madonna pop star topic vol.4.), people are constantly breaking the rules. It’s just non-stop spamming, trolling, insults, fighting, off-topic nonsense, and people attacking other users instead of actually talking about the artist... I guess the moderators aren't really stepping in enough, so it's getting kind of awkward to even read or join certain threads.
I'm suggesting that maybe they give me or someone else a moderator role over there just to get things back under control.

I'm with you; this needs to stop because the misinformation and constant trolling are getting out of hand. Look, we all know this isn't some official pop star fan club, and we accept that there will always be critics or people who just don't like certain things—that's just part of life—but this current situation is on a whole different level. I really think something needs to be done about this👍!

A handful of users on this board spend every single day trolling just to get under people's skin. They completely trash the threads with constant off-topic nonsense, making it impossible to have an actual conversation because everything gets buried under a mountain of useless posts.

I just wiped away those nasty personal attacks. Seriously, if people don't chill out and stop being so rude, they're getting banned...

That’s just one part of it... I guess we still have to deal with everything else.

I wouldn't say the mods aren't doing their jobs. Look, we aren't glued to this forum 24/7, but I’d say we stay pretty active. It just happens... sometimes you're working, or traveling, or maybe the internet goes out because you forgot to pay the bill or whatever... life happens.

Hundreds of deleted posts, dozens of bans, endless warnings. Not bad at all for "inactive" moderators.

It just so happens that neither Matthew Carter nor I have been around lately, and we had a new moderator jump in who immediately had to tackle the Madonna pop star topic. Maybe you didn't notice, but the new mod, Puljo, really stepped up to handle things his way.

It's funny... all of you complaining right now are doing the exact same stuff you claim to hate. You want to wipe it out? Some of you are even volunteering to be mods. Fine. Start with yourselves. I don't see the issue. Go ahead, fix it.

The truth is, there's all kinds of stuff here, but that doesn't mean a post is trolling just because you don't like what it says. That's why moderators exist—to judge.

Maybe the solution is just a whole new crew of users. Which, let's be real, isn't happening. You can't just swap out the old guard. The entire vibe of this sub-forum is unique, and the moderation is built specifically for the people here. So, blame whoever you want.

Sure, anyone from this group could apply to be a mod, but that's up to the admins to decide. Maybe we'll get an entire sub-forum dedicated to Madonna that you guys run yourselves, where you can only log in if you have a membership card. 🤷

Think of this as the collective opinion of all the mods over on the pop music section.

I'm in complete agreement with everything silverdrifter24 wrote.

We stay active here whenever our actual lives allow it. We have jobs, we travel, we have responsibilities... we aren't just sitting behind screens waiting for notifications. Nobody expects us to be online 24/7 to jump on every single report you submit.

The pop star topic is easily the most heavily moderated thread on this entire site. It sees the highest number of warnings, bans, and deleted posts. We constantly try to keep the conversation civil, but sometimes that doesn't happen overnight... it takes work.

Just like silverdrifter24 mentioned, how we moderate each individual thread depends entirely on the vibe of that specific discussion. Our rules aren't overly rigid—except when it comes to those damn gifs 🤣. Generally speaking, I think the atmosphere here is pretty laid back and mostly just good fun. Occasionally, people cross the line, and that's when we step in.

Regarding new moderators, a new colleague has joined the team. He’s been cleaning up the threads for the last few days while Masha and I have been traveling. Give him a fair shot.

If we ever decide to launch a dedicated pop star fan club sub-forum, we will certainly keep you all in mind as potential candidates.

So many lies...

Some users, like Volume3D or Petter Griffin, tend to slip in a few lies in almost every post where they actually tell the truth. It’s stuff we’ve debated a million times already, which basically means they’re just trolling and spamming. Then you get people like Sevda or fatamorgana starting these fights that turn into personal attacks, and suddenly everyone is insulting each other and the actual topic is completely lost. On top of all that, you occasionally get those troll posts from HIV Positive... And honestly, people here get accused of being bots all the time.

Basically: even when a post looks true at first glance, there are lies woven in, patterns repeat, people get insulted, and the whole thread gets trashed...

Volume and Petter have pretty much admitted to trolling on a few occasions, both directly and indirectly.

I might have misspelled a couple of names, but I think you guys know who I mean.

If they got infractions for every single troll post, they probably would've been banned by now. Not long ago, I made a post on the Anastasija Raznatovic thread that wasn't really on topic, so I got an infraction and my post was deleted. But if I recall, Petter? replied to that same post, and his reply was off-topic too. When I checked back a few hours after getting penalized, his post was still sitting there. This kind of thing happens all the time...

And don't even get me started on how fast they deleted the posts where a few of us expressed doubt about whether Rozga rigged her win for best dressed in America—even though we laid out our arguments clearly without being rude. Meanwhile, when Volume writes that Madonna is buying views... he says it over and over again (which is why the same arguments keep looping), and nothing ever happens to him.

Some of this might sound a bit silly, but I’m just looking for some objectivity.

Regarding the idea that people only want to post praise here—look, we’ve criticized things plenty of times, and I don't mind if anyone else does, too. It just bothers me when those criticisms are used to sneak in the lies I mentioned earlier.

Users like Volume3D or Petter Griffin include lies in almost every single post where they try to present the truth—lies that have been debated a dozen times already, which just means they’re trolling and spamming. Then, certain female users like Sevda or fatamorgana kick off arguments that devolve into personal insults, and through all that fighting, people start attacking other members and the whole discussion loses its connection to the actual topic. On top of all that, you occasionally see those trolling posts from HIV Positive... And it's not rare for the majority to be accused of being clones.

Basically: even in posts that look truthful at first glance, lies are being slipped in, patterns repeat, people get insulted... the thread gets trashed...

Volume and Petter have both directly and indirectly admitted to trolling on a few occasions.

I probably misspelled a few names, but you guys know who I mean.

If everyone got an infraction for every single trolling post, they would have been banned several times by now. Not too long ago, I wrote a post on the Anastasija Raznatovic thread that I admit wasn't on topic, and I got an infraction and my post was deleted. But if I recall correctly, Petter? replied to that post and his response was off-topic too, yet when I checked (a few hours after I got penalized), his post was still sitting there... and this happens constantly...

And don't even get me started on how quickly you wiped the posts where a few of us expressed doubt that Madonna rigged the "best dressed American" selection, even though we presented our arguments nicely without any insults... Meanwhile, when Volume writes that Madonna is buying views... and does it over and over again (causing the same debates to repeat endlessly), nobody ever faces consequences.

Some of this might sound stupid, but I'm just looking for some objectivity.

And regarding the idea that someone wants the thread to be nothing but praise—we've criticized plenty of times ourselves and I don't mind if others do too, but it bothers me when those criticisms are used to smuggle in the lies I mentioned earlier.

And where are these massive lies?
Everything that silverdrifter24 and I wrote stands.

You even wrote yourself that the problem in the thread goes both ways.
There is no such thing as "objectivity" versus "subjectivity" here.
Everyone is provoking, spamming, and accusing one another of being clones...

As for the Anastasija thread, I was right there and I gave both you and him a warning because you were really crossing the line that day and dragging discussions into other topics.

The same applies to the Jelena Rozga thread. Posts that had nothing to do with the discussion were deleted; not everything was wiped. We handle the Madonna thread the exact same way.
Sometimes we can't get to every report immediately, but we do keep an eye on the threads.

So, don't worry about objectivity.

A couple of years ago, the situation on Jelena's thread was much worse.
The trolling, spamming, and provocation were far more intense back then than they are now.
If that settled down, this will settle down too.

Matthew Carter said:So where are all these supposed lies?

Everything silverdrifter24 and I wrote is still true.

You even said yourself that both sides are causing issues on the thread.

It’s not really about being objective or not.

Everyone is just provoking, spamming, and calling each other clones...

Regarding the Anastasija thread, I was there and I gave you and him a warning because you guys were really overdoing it that day and dragging discussions into other topics.

The same goes for the Jelena Rozga thread. We deleted posts that had nothing to do with the actual discussion, though we didn't delete everything. We handle the Madonna thread the same way.

Sometimes we can't get to every single report or delete everything immediately, but we do keep an eye on the threads.

So, I wouldn't worry too much about the objectivity part.

A couple of years ago, things were way worse on Jelena's thread.

There was way more trolling, spamming, and provocation back then than there is now.

If things calmed down then, they'll calm down here too.

Don't act like you're some expert.
I'm still seeing troll posts from the Volume crowd....

The debate on the Rozga thread was actually pretty reasoned, and since we expressed legitimate doubts, those posts were deleted—yet the Volume fans and others are still posting, and there are several where they just repeat the same thing...

I'll say it again: if everyone got an infraction for every troll post, they'd all be banned by now... I guess I'll start keeping count.

Since you guys can't keep up, why not let someone moderate who's actually around often and knows the whole situation? Some of us are, thank God, active and fair.

People keep claiming we want this thread to be like a pop star fan club, but nobody ever actually said that. If you followed along, you'd see we've criticized stuff plenty of times.

Also, don't try to link me to any trolling on the Rozga thread from two years ago, because I've only been on this forum for about a year and a half.

Posts like this one (where this user just keeps posting "updates") never seem to get taken down, even though they're basically just full of lies, trolling, spam, and provocations meant to trigger the same old arguments. I guess I'm wondering if the mods could explain why this is allowed?

I'm gonna reply to this thread again because even though I reported the post, the mods seem to be ignoring it.

EDIT: And this troll post hasn't been deleted either:

Can someone please explain why posts filled with spam, lies, and trolling aren't being removed?

Alright, look. I totally get that you guys want to protect the singer's reputation, but honestly, dropping those numbers doesn't actually break any subforum rules. We have no way of knowing if those stats are even legit or not, and as it stands, mentioning them isn't cluttering up the thread at all.

If things start getting messy or if people begin attacking each other personally again, then we'll step in. But until then, I don't really see a reason to jump in...
