Hey everyone, I’m on the hunt for a laptop geared toward multimedia stuff—lots of video editing, maybe some light gaming on the side (not a dealbreaker), and potentially some coding too. Honestly, my main goal is just getting something that won't be obsolete in a year or two, so I’d love to land on a machine with a beefy, latest-gen processor. I’m totally fine with starting out with a smaller SSD and less RAM if it means I can just pop in some upgrades later down the road when I have the cash. It would be a nice little bonus if it still had a DVD drive or a VGA port, though I know those are becoming rare these days, so don't sweat it if not. Also, I don't need an OS pre-installed.

I totally forgot to mention that the screen really needs to be easy on the eyes, you know? Like, something I can stare at for hours on end all day long without feeling like my vision is getting fried.

This one is the cheapest option:

The processor isn't anything special, but it gets the job done for an average user right now. Everything else is pretty much the best you can get for this price point. It’s a shame they don't offer a version with an i5 for a little extra—that would be the sweet spot.

Now we're talking. This one is significantly more powerful. Just make sure you grab an SSD separately later on.
