Hey, I’ve been hitting the gym harder lately and definitely seeing some muscle growth, but my abs are still playing hide and seek under all this bulk.
There's just nothing to see there.
I'm currently trying out a liquid diet, so I'll let you guys know how that goes.

Anyone here actually messed around with a liquid diet before?
Is anyone else planning on giving it a shot?

Is this just a water fast?
If it is, have you actually tried sticking to nothing but fruits and vegetables for at least a month?
It isn't worth hitting the gym while you're on a fast like that.

Training at the gym is basically a waste of time while you're fasting like that.

So, I ended up hitting just over 1,000 calories today.

The hunger just became too much to deal with.

Back at it tomorrow.
I stocked up on pickles, beets, and peppers, so if the hunger pangs hit again, I'll just snack on those since they're basically zero calories.

Don't kid yourself... even if you manage to drop a few pounds, the second you stop that crazy fad diet, it’s all coming right back... honestly, you'll probably end up heavier than when you started.

Athletes really need to be looking at long-term nutritional plans tailored to their specific training load and intensity... they shouldn't be messing around with these crash diets that strip away everything essential to their performance...

He's just a recreational athlete. If he's prepping for a race, cutting calories isn't a bad idea. A month of fasting resets your system and flushes out everything you've been putting into your body. Once the fast is over, you set a sustainable meal plan and stick to it. You won't even think about binging on junk food.
I'm not sure what the author is trying to achieve or what his specific diet looks like. It might all be for nothing, but he'll never know unless he tries.
I'm behind him on this.

When I talk about a water fast, I’m talking about nothing but water for a stretch of time, which... honestly? It's a complete disaster.

If you actually want to lean out properly without having a massive surplus right now, you need to be looking at a daily deficit of about 300 calories; this whole 1,000-calorie deficit thing you're doing is complete garbage. You have to hit your protein targets to protect your muscle mass while keeping your strength training intensity exactly where it currently is.
That’s why carnivore diets actually work, whereas whatever this guided nonsense is is just pure trash.
