Blurry text on screen—how do I fix this?

Greetings,

So, I went out and picked up a new 17.3'' Dell laptop just yesterday.

Device name DESKTOP-BN7G9BV
Processor Intel Core i5-5600 with Intel UHD Graphics 2.10 GHz
Installed RAM 12.0 GB (9.86 GB usable)
Device ID BB8F2329-1047-45B6-89B0-332961C75402
Product ID 00326-00895-60402-AAOEM
System type 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Pen and touch No Apple or touch input is available for this display

I must admit, I am somewhat out of my depth when it comes to computer hardware; I simply needed a machine that could handle my specific line of work, and that was really all I was looking for, which is why I find myself reaching out for your collective expertise.

The issue is that the text on the screen appears rather blurry to me—it lacks that crisp, crystal-clear quality one would expect. While photos look perfectly fine, the lettering itself seems fuzzy. I have spent quite some time browsing the web to find a solution, but nothing I attempted seemed to work, or perhaps I simply mismanaged the process, so if anyone could lend a hand, I would be most grateful, as I am certain I cannot be the first person to encounter such a thing.

What's your monitor's resolution?
To me, this blurriness looks like a low-res mess, almost as if it isn't even running at 1920x1080.

It is currently at 1920x1080, though I did try bumping it up one notch just to be sure, yet the image remains stubbornly blurry.

Check this out—it explains how to fix that annoying "blurry text" issue using Norton Utilities


Seriously, so many resolutions just have these super fuzzy fonts right out of the box, so you've gotta tweak things to get them looking sharp.

It remains quite murky, if I am being honest. There is a slight improvement, certainly, but we aren't quite seeing the clarity we were hoping for yet.

I must admit, the whole situation is becoming somewhat frustrating 😁

I’m not totally sure about that specific model, but most laptops run dual graphics—one built-in for your everyday stuff and an add-on specifically for 3D work. In my case, the NVIDIA GeForce kicks in whenever I fire up a heavy app.

Go ahead and check what you're actually running in your Device Drivers

Also, make sure you've got the latest drivers installed for both of them.

Another thing: sometimes things just look blurry at certain resolutions or refresh rates, especially when you're trying to read text on a laptop screen. Try finding a lower resolution/refresh rate where everything looks "crisp," then slowly bump the settings up until you hit that sweet spot. Once you find it, give Gandalf another shot.
