Locking threads instead of actually moderating

I am proposing we actually do some moderation by cleaning up the chat—you know, performing actual moderator duties instead of just nuking the entire thread.

Yeah, I've seen this before.
Instead of actually moderating the thread—or the PDF section in general—it feels like the mods only show up once everything has spiraled completely out of control, just to shut the whole thing down and call it a day.
Couldn't they handle things earlier with warnings or strikes? That way, the discussion could actually stay open instead of being killed off entirely.

This thread was closed for good reason; we’ve been stuck in a cycle of constant bickering and trolling for months now. Honestly, I wouldn't even bother reopening a discussion in this specific format anymore because there’s zero point to it—it just turns into a shouting match where people attack anyone posting an ad or anyone brave enough to think "outside the box." It has reached a point where certain users are basically treating their own personal vendettas like they're fighting holy wars.

When you're faced with a continuous stream of nonsense, you have to ask: do you keep documenting every single mess, or do you just shut the whole thing down? In my book, closing the door is always the smarter move. 🤷

Every topic eventually reaches its breaking point. I agree that he’s being far too slow to act—honestly, this should have been shut down ages ago. There is zero chance of things ever going back to the way they used to be.

It’s exactly this kind of baiting that makes communication pointless. If I have to choose between locking a thread or banning ten different people, I'll take locking the thread every single time. Now, the users have a chance to rethink things—maybe next time they can focus more on the topic at hand instead of just attacking one another.
