Hey there.

So, I’ve run into a real headache here. Every time I try to transfer my photos from my computer back onto my phone (an iPhone 6s), the metadata seems to get completely mangled. Instead of seeing my photos organized by when they were actually taken, the gallery just lumps them all together under one single date—the exact day I copied them over. It’s a total mess and makes finding anything impossible. On my old device (an iPhone 5s), this was never an issue; everything stayed perfectly sorted by the original capture date.

I’ve tried basically every workaround in the book—standard copy-pasting, using the "move to device" function, even wrapping them up in a .rar file and extracting them on the phone—but nothing works. It's like the timestamp data just vanishes into thin air.

Does anyone have any bright ideas on how to fix this?

Maybe try a backup app—you know, just grab the backup file, toss it onto another phone, and then run a restore. It might actually preserve the dates... if we're lucky.

I run into the exact same thing. Honestly, it’s pretty standard behavior—the phone isn't quite smart enough to automatically re-sort everything based on the metadata. You usually have to click into the photo details to see when it was actually shot.
