It would really help if the mods stayed mindful of this issue so we could actually discuss my suggestion...
Of course, I’d love to see the mods and supermods weigh in on this specifically...

Historical debates can only happen here if presenting certain claims results in sanctions. Otherwise, those topics belong in the Politics or History sections; this section isn't intended for them, so please move those discussions to the appropriate subforums. If you've gotten a different impression based on John Wayne's recent appeal, that was an exception because making that specific claim had triggered sanctions, and the appeal was specifically about allowing such writing without penalty.

The moderators participate in forum discussions just like everyone else. If taking a side is permitted for all participants, it's permitted for them too, regardless of which side they take, provided they follow the rules of this section.
