Hey there,

Lately, I’ve been feeling cold way more often than I should. It’s kind of weird—like, even when it’s 85°F outside and my buddy is just chilling in shorts, I’ll be stuck in a denim jacket, sneezing and dealing with a runny nose. At the same time, I’m actually sweating because it’s so hot out.

It doesn't happen every single second, but it's frequent enough to be annoying—both indoors and out. It honestly feels like my body’s internal thermostat is just... broken? Like my system thinks I'm freezing when I'm clearly not. And if I try to bundle up to get warm, I just end up overheating and sweating, though my nose keeps running regardless.

I’ve been trying to focus more on boosting my immune system and general health lately, and I actually have a doctor's appointment coming up soon. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on what might be going on? Or maybe some tips on what I should ask the doctor—like specific tests to run or certain things I should mention?

I am experiencing comparable issues due to constant exposure to air-conditioned environments and the frequent fluctuations between extreme heat and cold. It is possible you are facing a similar situation?

I’ll definitely keep an eye on that—though honestly, it's happening outside too, and I don't even have AC in my apartment.
I'm not entirely sure about the whole body temperature thing and what might be causing it, either. Maybe it's a mineral deficiency, some vitamins, or just some random underlying issue...

One should also take into account environments where temperatures can become unpredictably low, such as certain retail stores, office air conditioning, or even just sitting in a car or riding the subway..
Regardless, I strongly advise you to consult a physician; they are best equipped to determine the necessary course of action, likely starting with a standard complete blood count.

I can't speak to the chills, but if you're sneezing constantly without feeling under the weather, it’s probably just allergies. Especially this time of year when everything is blooming like crazy. Might be worth grabbing an allergy test just to be sure.

That's what I was thinking too—but honestly, I don't really get how those allergy tests even work. I actually went once before and they did some bloodwork, but they couldn't figure out what I was allergic to at all.
I don't quite grasp the whole process. I mean, I'm probably allergic to something, but I have no clue what it is—though usually, it shows up as hives or a skin rash rather than sneezing and watery eyes. I'm guessing maybe dairy or something else common in my diet, but nothing intense enough to really bother me.

And if I had suddenly developed a pollen allergy, I'd assume it would happen at the same time or place every single time, but that hasn't been the case. Most days I feel fine, and it seems to clear up pretty quickly once I warm up a bit.

I'd ask about an allergy test, but I have a feeling they'd just tell me again that there are allergens in my blood and then act like they have no idea what specifically is causing it.

Edit: I was actually planning to see if I could get a referral for a thyroid checkup and maybe a test for intestinal Candida.
