Moderating events involving paid activists

Specifically regarding the Washington, D.C. subforum—where we discuss those activists who seem to show up whenever there is a mess to be made—be it church construction, public fountains, or patio expansions near Times Square...
as soon as someone suggests that these activists aren't actually driven by personal conviction, but are instead being bankrolled by political parties to carry out these stunts,
every single post gets nuked, and the people making those observations are handed red cards.
Why is it impossible to have a civilized discussion about these matters—especially when it follows such a predictable, repetitive pattern?

Posts don't actually get deleted just because someone points out that activists aren't acting on their own convictions, but are instead being bankrolled by political parties to pull these stunts—it happens the second anyone brings up activists at all, mostly because it veers into politics, and we all know how much people here hate discussing politics (the rules around here basically say that any talk involving the local community subforum isn't exactly welcome)

I received a warning on the Washington, D.C. PDF regarding my post—yet there was no mention of political content... is it actually possible to discuss paid activists here in a civilized manner?
Otherwise, engaging in any meaningful discussion is becoming quite impossible...

It is difficult to argue that the deliberate spread of disinformation should be categorized under the umbrella of free speech.
True freedom of expression shouldn't include the right to peddle falsehoods designed to harm others.
