PC breakdown help needed

Hey everyone, so my PC made this weird clicking sound right after I powered it up yesterday, and since then, it’s been completely dead. I thought maybe the power supply bit the dust, but even when I swapped in a known working PSU, I’m getting absolutely nothing—except for the fan, which just blinks red twice and then stays dark.
I’ve already tried reseating the RAM and even tried jumping the pins with a screwdriver instead of using the power button, but I’m officially stumped. Is there any chance the motherboard is toast?
Does anyone know what those two red blinks actually mean?

It was one of those case fans. It used to glow red whenever the PC was running.
Now, when I try to boot it up, it just blinks twice and dies. The fan isn't spinning at all.

Anyone got any good suggestions?

Are you absolutely certain everything is seated properly and tightened down?
Of course, there’s a chance another component has failed, but you should be able to pin that down through a process of elimination using your other hardware pieces.

Thanks everyone, I finally got it sorted out. Turns out there was a short in one of the front panel USB ports; once I unplugged that from the motherboard, everything started working perfectly again.

hey everyone

dealing with some issues on my old rig. since my GPU and motherboard both kicked the bucket at the same time, I couldn't even get it to boot, so I picked up a used Intel B85 gaming board to try and revive things. everything looks fine once it's put together—fans are spinning and all that—but I'm getting zero video output from the integrated graphics. just a single beep from the system. I've been reading online that this usually points to a RAM issue. I managed to get the machine running by tinkering with it, but things are acting incredibly weird. if I pop a single 4GB Corsair Vengeance stick into the A1 slot, the PC boots, but if I try any other slot, it’s dead. fans spin, but no POST, no beep. then I move that same stick back to A1 and it won't work either. honestly, I'm thinking the stick itself might be shot. however, if I put it in B1, the computer runs just fine. I can't seem to get two sticks to play nice together, let alone trying to run four 4GB sticks. they're all identical models, perfectly matched, but it just won't cooperate. anyone have any thoughts?

It’s possible, sure. But I don't get why one slot works in both A1 and B1, while another one only functions in B1. If I try running them in A1 and B1 at the same time, I can't even get into the BIOS. Same thing happens if I switch to A1 and A2. I just can't get two sticks to play nice together.
