First off, I’d really appreciate it if the moderators could leave this thread up for at least a few hours before potentially merging it with another topic. I’m dealing with a lot of pain right now and could really use some advice or shared experiences.

Basically, about four or five days ago, I noticed a pus-like discharge. To be honest, it’s pretty gross and unlike anything I’ve ever dealt with. It gets to the point where my underwear and the surrounding skin feel sticky or stained. I actually went to see a doctor the very next day, eventually heading over to Rockefeller, where they ran some tests. Now, I'm just stuck waiting on the results.

Everything points toward one of the STIs mentioned in the title—I had unprotected sex, and being a guy in my twenties, I know the risks. The problem is that I have to wait at least another five days to get my results back and start treatment. But the thing is, I’m hurting *now*. For five days straight, I've had this constant, nasty discharge, along with intense pain down there and a sharp burning sensation whenever I pee. It honestly makes me want to scream. I’m even waking up in the middle of the night because of the pain, especially when I get an erection, which hurts quite a bit.

Even if I tell myself this is all curable, the reality is that I'm in pain right now and I can't keep living like this every single day. Urinating and sleeping have become almost unbearable. If anyone has any advice, personal experience, or just some help, please let me know.

Why not head to the ER and ask them for some pain management? If you just explain what's going on, I'm sure they'll be able to help ease the discomfort.

It’s most likely gonorrhea.
How can anyone help you? Antibiotics are the only way, as far as I know.
And try what Kate Phillips47 suggested.

And you should probably try what Kate Phillips47 suggested.

I didn't quite catch that, Kate... As for the illness, yeah, it's probably gonorrhea, but what am I supposed to do while I wait for the test results? I don't see how an ER visit can really help right now.

Not to mention I don't have supplemental insurance, so this is likely going to be incredibly expensive. 🤦

Do you think taking some ibuprofen would at least help with the pain? And how long does this discharge last... man, this is just gross. 🙂

To be honest, I’m not even sure if Ibuprofen would offer you any temporary relief from the pain.
You should probably just see a doctor and let them weigh in; they actually have the expertise.

I'm not sure what there is to misunderstand here. 🙂 You go to the ER, tell them your genitals are hurting and it burns when you pee, and ask for an exam and some pain relief. You don't need extra insurance for that.
You probably could have managed the pain already if you had just gone to the emergency room.

If you had a toothache in the middle of the night, I assume you'd remember to head to an urgent care dental clinic. Is genital pain and discharge somehow too unthinkable for the ER?
