Is it true that a smartphone is worth as much as an ounce of gold?

The title pretty much says it all, and I’m curious about a few things... I’ve heard rumors that old cell phones might contain a tiny bit of gold or other precious metals, maybe even worth something... does anyone know if that's true, or who actually buys them and what the going rate is? Thanks...
