YouTube channel ideas - what should we cover?

Ugh, I’ve brought this up before, but I don't think anyone actually listened to me.

It would be awesome if we just had one dedicated thread where people could promote their YouTube channels. Right now, it feels messy when people spam threads about Google AdSense or the YouTube Partner Program instead of just sharing their content.

I was thinking we could set it up looking something like this:

What I mean is: we have sections for bloggers, drawing galleries, poets, photographers, makeup artists... why wouldn't we have a spot for YouTube creators? Video is an art form too. It doesn't feel right to just ignore it.

Where would you even put that PDF? I feel like it would fit perfectly in the "Miscellaneous" folder on the shared drive, wouldn't it?

I’d probably just turn that into a casual get-together over coffee, or maybe some gaming if we're actually talking about playing something.

Honestly, I feel like this sub is actually the best place for this kind of talk.

I honestly think Reddit would be your absolute best bet here, mostly because it’s easily the most active platform compared to those other three you mentioned—if you just take a quick look at the member counts on their subreddits, it’s pretty obvious which one wins out.
If your main goal is to get some eyes on your YouTube channel, I really think that’s the biggest factor you should be weighing up—basically, you just want to make sure as many people as possible can actually stumble upon your content.😁

Look, I just want everything done by the book. I don't want anyone pulling the "we didn't know" card later on.

Looking strictly at traffic, Health has about 400 users, Ford Mustang has 300, Housing has 300... compared to just 80 over in Miscellaneous.
As far as post counts go, Politics—with its 3.5 million posts—isn't even in the same league, except for Cornerstone which sits at 2 million. Miscellaneous is sitting around 210 thousand.

But let's get serious 😁
A good chunk of people in Miscellaneous hang out in the Collectibles sub-forum trading stuff, and there's plenty of them in the Sweepstakes threads too. I haven't really noticed folks from those two groups popping up in other discussions—maybe they're just lurkers.

As for me, Miscellaneous works fine.

Since you brought up photography—that PDF actually lists all the users who are into photography. As for YouTube? It’s a total grab bag: poetry readings, animations, gaming walkthroughs, song compilations... you could go on forever. Honestly, I couldn't care less about someone playing some high-speed racing game—that belongs in the Games section. Poetry readings would fit under Literature, for instance. And so on.
It all depends on what those channels actually cover. If you're talking about a complete junk drawer of content, we could put it under Miscellaneous or Other Arts. From what I can see, there’s already a thread for that kind of stuff over in Other Media.

I tried uploading a theme with a clone onto the PDF Game site, and ended up getting banned for life. 😬 So much for solidarity. 😁

Honestly, you’re probably better off this way—if you ever find yourself second-guessing whether a topic actually fits in a specific PDF subforum, just shoot a quick DM to a moderator first and ask if it's okay to start a thread there. At the absolute worst, they'll just tell you "no," but in a best-case scenario, they’ll give you the green light or even point you toward a different subforum where it actually belongs.
