Background music on the forum?

I’m not entirely sure if anyone else has run into this, or if it’s even officially considered a "problem," but for me, there are at least two big reasons why it’s a massive headache.

Basically, whenever I start browsing through different subforums or jumping into new threads, some kind of background music just starts playing out of nowhere. I mean, I totally get it when there’s an active ad running on the forum or if someone has a video playing, but there’s nothing visible that I can actually "mute" or turn off. The first issue is that it’s incredibly distracting when I'm just trying to focus and read something, and the second thing is that on my laptop using Wi-Fi, it absolutely devours my data plan. 😁 It doesn't seem quite as bad when I'm on my desktop at home since I have speakers that I can just quickly and easily turn down, and I've got my unlimited plan, but out here, it's a real struggle.

Just a quick heads-up, too—I don't know if this is being triggered by an advertisement, but neither AdBlock nor my antivirus software seems to be doing anything about it.🙂

I had a run-in with this incredibly aggressive ad from Target🙄 It’s set up so you can close it by clicking anywhere on the site, but the way it kept popping up—especially with that background audio playing while I was trying to listen to something else—was honestly one of the most infuriating things I've dealt with lately.😠
It seems to have died down for now, but if it starts acting up again, does anyone have advice on how to handle it?

When it comes to dealing with ads, I guess using AdBlock really does help out. It’s just that lately, these things feel more like some weird song playing, or sometimes they're just like a recorded conversation drifting in from the background 😕

Can you guys just kill this damn music already?
Every single freaking tab I open starts blasting audio—I’m done with all of you and these tabs!! I’d honestly rather deal with a Budweiser ad or those annoying pop-ups jumping out from the side than this absolute garbage music!

Can one of the moderators please, for once, step up and explain if anyone actually knows what's going on here?

I had this one guy who used to randomly burst out singing in Spanish—it was such a vibe, honestly. But man, there was absolutely nothing around to turn the volume down or shut it off.

I’m dealing with the exact same thing. It helps a little bit, though—if you're like me and have the chance, there's an option up top to mute the audio for a specific tab with just one click.

On the tab where the sound is playing, there's this tiny icon at the top; you just hit it and boom, the volume for that tab is dropped to zero instantly. Doesn't really fix the data usage issue, though...

What’s next on the menu? A little bit of malware to kick off the morning, followed by a full-blown virus to tuck us in at night? 🤣

So, I went ahead and installed uBlock based on a recommendation from one of the ladies on here. It's basically an AdBlock setup that manages to kill both the ads and the music too 😁

First thing I do whenever I install a new browser is toss in AdBlock.
Honestly, trying to browse the web without it is just impossible.
