Overall, I’d say this album actually holds up better than the debut... though it lacks those massive, undeniable hits that I can put on constant repeat. I can probably pick out maybe 3 or 4 standout tracks😳, but there isn't any total filler either—aside from perhaps that one track right at the beginning.

Dear Diary - an autobiographical 🙂 Pretty cute song. Honestly, the lyrics are sooo cheesy, but you totally nailed the vibe for that era. 😬 9.5/10

I have to admit, though—this whole record is genuinely incredible. It’s such a massive step up from Baby, where it felt like only the singles were actually worth listening to; even on Oops, the ballads were much better than what we got before.

12. Girl in the Mirror - 😢It’s such a lovely song, almost like something out of a fairy tale, though I found myself wishing it could have been trimmed down by about thirty seconds to keep the momentum going. I'd give it a solid 7/10.

So many solid tracks on here. Honestly, there isn't a single bad song, which is pretty wild. The filler is kept to a bare minimum, and even the slower stuff has enough soul to keep it from being boring. My only gripe? All those spoken word segments scattered through the songs. I can handle it once or twice, but in some spots, it just feels totally unnecessary.

Dear diary—to be honest, the instrumental feels a bit repetitive and the lyrics lean a little cheesy, but that doesn't necessarily mean it's bad; it actually has a pretty cool vibe, and the vocals are solid, maybe a 6/10.

I'll leave it to you all to decide on my final rating if you're interested, but I don't really feel like calculating it myself today.

It’s a pretty decent pop record, honestly. On the bright side, there isn't a single track bad enough to make you want to plug your ears with concrete, which is a win in my book. My only real gripes are that the ballads feel a bit lackluster, and they completely botched the one standout track by adding some production element at the end that even a toddler could tell doesn't belong there. Also, those spoken word interludes? Total facepalm moments.

Let me just jump in at the end here (running a bit behind on the individual breakdowns)

It’s pretty obvious they went with the exact same concept for this album as they did for the first one—even their single selection follows that same pattern. They start with a massive smash hit, follow it up with something mid-tempo, then drop a pop-heavy track (think Stronger vs. Crazy), and wrap things up with a total ballad. The only real difference is that the first album had that one extra powerhouse single—I think it would've been Can't Make You Love Me, but Born to Make You... isn't even in the same ballpark—which is why that was the fourth single back then. Basically, they're using that tried-and-true Spice Girls playbook.

All in all, you can really feel that Martin put more work into this record. To me, it honestly sounds like a female version of the Backstreet Boys' Millennium album.

If I had to pick, the happiest track from the first album was I Will Be, so I'll go with One Kiss From You on this one.
