Hey everyone—so, it’s been exactly seven days since I had my ligament surgery out in Carmel-by-the-Sea. I decided to push things a bit too hard yesterday with those rehab exercises they gave me, and well, ever since then, I haven't been able to put any weight on my leg. It’s still happening today... I actually reached out to a friend whose wife is a physical therapist, and she suggested I head back to the clinic in Carmel-by-the-Sea immediately because there's a chance I might have torn the ligaments again. Now, I'm wondering—is this something I should actually be worried about, or is this kind of extreme pain just a standard part of the post-op experience? The pain is pretty much everywhere—the ligaments, the tibia, even the inner side of my foot. To be honest, the only reason I'm asking you all instead of just driving straight back to Carmel-by-the-Sea is that I really don't feel like making that trek just to have them tell me everything is perfectly fine. Has anyone else dealt with something similar? 😵

So, what’s the current status? Have you actually made it to your appointment yet?

Yeah, I’m definitely still in the thick of it—I actually spent some time over in Carmel-by-the-Sea just yesterday. They’ve got me in a walking boot through Saturday, and then I have to head back in for another checkup once the weekend rolls around. It turns out I went and strained some tendons—the Achilles was giving me the most trouble, if I'm being honest—so they’ve got my leg set at a ninety-degree angle in the boot. I’m supposed to keep it elevated quite high and keep plenty of ice on it, too... so, I suppose we'll just see what the doctor says this Saturday. 🙂

Well, alright then, at least the worst didn't happen. :-)

Oh, sure—it wasn't even the ligament that was bothering me back then, it was more the tendons... though I suppose the ligament pain is only really starting to surface now in this specific position. It’s especially bad when I try to sleep. There is only one way I can actually get comfortable, which is lying flat on my back with my leg propped up high on a few pillows, but—well, that isn't exactly a sustainable way to sleep, is it? So, here I am, facing my second night in a row without any real rest. The pain wakes me up every two hours or so. At 3:20 this morning, I finally had to give in and take a 600mg Advil, and only then did I manage to crash until 11:30. Honestly, this damn brace is driving me absolutely crazy, but what can you do? I suppose I have nobody to blame for this than myself.
