Hi everyone!
I have a quick question regarding an injury I've been dealing with, though I'm not entirely sure if I'm in the right place since this is my first time posting on this forum, so please bear with me if I'm off base. So, about two weeks ago, I ended up straining both of my hamstrings. After two weeks of recovery, things seemed to be looking up with my left leg, and I figured I’d probably be fully healed in another few days—even though the left side had actually felt worse initially. My right side seemed to be healing a bit faster because the pain was localized just below the knee, if that's even the right way to describe it, but it feels like I might have re-aggravated it, and now there's this lingering, dull ache throughout the entire hamstring area. It doesn't really hurt while I'm walking or even if I try to run, but if I attempt a gentle stretch or lift my left leg a bit higher, I can feel that discomfort in my right hamstring. The injury happened while I was practicing high kicks and I guess I just didn't stretch enough or get warmed up properly 🙂. I was wondering if anyone here has dealt with something similar? Right now, I've been using Deep Relief and icing the area, and I'm trying to rest as much as possible, but I work construction, so I think that might be slowing down my recovery process since I'm constantly lifting heavy stuff and putting a lot of strain on my legs. Every day my hamstrings seem to improve just a tiny bit more, which is honestly pretty frustrating because I'm so used to training every single day, and now I haven't been able to hit the gym in two weeks. I'm pretty annoyed with myself for letting this happen in the first place. I'm not really feeling up for going to a physical therapist right now; I'd much rather manage this at home, so I was wondering if, besides resting, ice, and topical gels, there's anything else that might help speed things up? Maybe some kind of massage or something? I haven't really had issues with injuries before, especially nothing like this, so if anyone has any insight on hamstring recovery, I would be incredibly grateful.
Thanks,
