brighthound8 said:Unknown, if my memory serves me correctly, I managed to edge out my colleague Unknown by just 5 tiebreaker points; my sincere congratulations to you on such a hard-fought battle.

I am somewhat uncertain as to how the playoff bracket will unfold from here, though it seems we are facing an incredibly grueling trek toward the championship title. On a side note, I find myself quite perplexed by wiredscout14—how is it that he sits there with 37 points and secures a victory, despite having spent almost the entire season languishing at the bottom of his group?

Here is the evidence for those interested:

image

And, provided my calculations are accurate, this would be the projected playoff draw (though it strikes me as a rather peculiar bracket, given that I might find myself facing the exact same opponent again in the semifinals)

1. The group winner with the highest number of primary points (in the event of a tie, we look to tiebreakers, then specific placements, and so on) versus the runner-up from below 3rd place who qualified for the quarterfinals and possessed fewer tiebreaker points than the other qualifying candidate (Kyle Edwards5-SOME NEW GUY)
2. The group winner with fewer primary points versus the runner-up from below 3rd place who qualified for the quarterfinals and possessed more tiebreaker points than the other qualifying candidate (brighthound8-Patrick Bailey4)
3. A2 vs B3 (stormybadger8-swifttiger75)
4. A3 vs B2 (briskhound76-Unknown)

Semifinals:
1. Match 1 vs Match 3
2. Match 2 vs Match 4

brighthound8, I believe your math might be slightly off. I shall be publishing the official standings later this evening, along with a full explanation of who advances (it is currently a dead heat between Patrick Bailey4 and Clark for that final quarterfinal spot).

Despite how cute this screenshot from brighthound8 looks, I can already spot more math errors everywhere😁
Better wait for Unknown...

Bad math—I was rushing through the calculation.

graniteharbor502 said:the top three participants move on directly, while the remaining two quarterfinal slots are filled by those finishing below 3rd place who accumulated the highest number of tie-breaking points. the bracket will be structured as follows:
1. the group winner with the higher number of primary points (in the event of a tie, we look at tie-breaker points, then exact positions, etc.) against the participant from below 3rd place who qualified for the quarterfinals and held fewer tie-breaker points than the other qualifying runner-up
2. the group winner with the lower number of primary points against the participant from below 3rd place who qualified for the quarterfinals and held more tie-breaker points than the other qualifying runner-up
3. A2 vs B3
4. A3 vs B2

semifinals:
1. pairing 1 vs pairing 3
2. pairing 2 vs pairing 4

Quarterfinal Matchups:
1. Kyle Edwards5 - Patrick Bailey4
2. brighthound8 - graniteharbor502
3. stormybadger8 - swifttiger75
4. briskhound76 - Unknown

note: Patrick Bailey4 and Clark ended up with an identical number of tie-breaker points and an equal count of exact placements, which meant the final decision rested on the criteria regarding best finishes, where Patrick Bailey4 secured his advancement thanks to having one victory compared to Clark's zero wins.

I will accept any appeals until Wednesday.

Watch your back.

Anyway, if I pull off this win, there's a chance I'll end up facing that same guy from the group stage again—provided briskhound76 loses.

Let's just get these playoffs started already.

On another note, if I manage to pull off a win, I might end up facing that same player I went up against in my group again—provided that briskhound76 loses, of course.

Let's just let the playoffs begin.

brighthound8, you really are Captain Obvious, aren't you?🙏
Since there were only two groups to begin with, isn't it perfectly logical that you could run into someone from your own bracket during the semifinals?😁

It feels a little embarrassing to be the last one in the group to chime in, but I suppose it’s fine. At least now I can see that the competition is running exactly as it should, and those who aren't just lazily throwing out guesses are actually being properly rewarded for their efforts. 🙈

Routine pit stops during those last two laps, even though moving into the next phase was pretty much a done deal after the fourth one ☕

though I know some people might argue things were getting intense toward the end ☕

Come on, you were totally dodging brighthound8, let's be honest,☕
now I'm the one who's completely screwed in the quarterfinals.

I would like to offer a gentle reminder regarding a specific provision within our official regulations:
During the knockout stages of the competition, participants are required to submit a fresh set of predictions, as any forecasts made during the previous group stage will no longer be considered valid; these new entries shall remain in effect until a subsequent set is submitted or until the tournament reaches its conclusion.

To put it plainly, all predictions from the initial phase of the tournament are being wiped clean. Of course, even those who did not advance past the preliminary rounds are more than welcome to continue participating in the forecasting, given that graniteharbor502’s sense of whimsy apparently knows no bounds and persists until the very end of the tournament.
