I am responding to post #8328 from the KGB thread:

hiddenhound3 said:Nationalists are losing their minds everywhere.

In Mexico, they’re waving the United States flag—honestly, I don't even want to imagine what would have happened at last night's concert if a certain Mexican had been in the crowd.

It's a tragedy. All nationalists from every nation, unite.

Everyone has their own mascot—those folks in Mexico have Šešelj, while our people have Kitarovićka.

You can't tell who's worse, more insidious, or more bloodthirsty.

Disgusting.

That isn't love for one's home; it's pure hatred for someone else.

So, I’m putting a question directly to the moderators and administration of this forum:

are you actually allowing the equivalence of our elected American president with that fanatic Šešelj?

Look, I get that you're biased—I can wrap my head around that—but this is absolutely unacceptable.
No matter how much SWAMBO gets under your skin.

The fact that you allowed a troll fest in the KGB thread just shows how short-sighted you all are.
You can try to stomp on the flowers, but you won't stop the spring.

Peace,

Your signature is honestly more distracting than anything else you write.
Politicians... they’re all just cut from the same cloth.

It wouldn't hurt to have a bit more discussion following that post, would it?

Page said:Only a complete idiot would compare our President to Šešelj.🤦

The sheer hatred directed at everything American is frankly irrational.

...............

hiddenhound3 said:No, I didn't make a comparison; I just said everyone has their mascot. They aren't the same, but they both attract the same radical crowds—one Mexican, one American. But you clearly saw similarities. You made the comparison, not me.

Both sides support factions that promote bloodshed and hatred toward the enemies we fought in the war twenty-five years ago. That's a quarter of a century, man.

Why was Jacob at the MPT concert? Why does the President tolerate chants calling for the death of Mexicans without any official condemnation to this day?

And those "patriots" out in Knoxville yesterday basically declared themselves murderers. Murderers of Mexican blood.

MPT completely embarrassed himself and botched such a grand anniversary event. Not surprising. It’s all they can do, especially with support from the right wing. And yours, I assume.☕

And there is still more debate to be had.

So, what now?

Who gets a warning or a ban?

Those who call others party apologists, those who spit on them, those called idiots, or simply anyone with an opinion, regardless of how much others disagree? Or perhaps someone gets a warning for commenting on moderation in a thread using the exact same post here as they did there? What then?

Nothing. William Bennett53 will handle it when he shows up.

It’s obvious that boundaries here are fluid. This topic is saturated with incredibly ugly rhetoric, making it difficult to draw a definitive line.
Even if she clarified her intent in a subsequent post, the comparison between Kitarovićka and Šešelj in the original quote was quite pointed. It wasn't entirely out of line, though. I went ahead and issued a warning for that specific post along with a few others following it.

Update:
Forum members need to realize that they are the ones primarily shaping the discourse of a thread through their own posts. One cannot selectively demand freedom of speech while simultaneously calling for the defense of certain values, depending on whether the argument aligns with one's own perspective or the opposing side. Such inconsistent behavior makes moderation significantly more difficult, which is precisely what Charles Fox10 mentioned above. Consequently, I am closing this thread; the situation has been addressed, and I have no intention of allowing the inevitable troll fest to take hold.

My grievance stems from the fact that this thread was opened, settled, and shuttered within a window of time far too brief for me to offer a meaningful response.

In principle, I am not disputing the warning I received, nor do I harbor any resentment toward those who filed the complaint—truly, I could not care less about that. However, I am deeply concerned about my subsequent posts, which were deleted without a trace despite providing a much more nuanced and precise explanation of my actual position.

Without those specific entries, any biased observer is free to interpret my words however they please, perhaps even imagining that I am some sort of lunatic attempting to equate the KGB with Šešelj, which is patently untrue.

Furthermore, there is no need to rescind my warning; I am not a confrontational user and rarely cause any disruption, so this penalty won't affect my standing here. But Dorian, if you believe you are right in this matter, I assure you that you couldn't be further from the truth.

I am now formally requesting that my other posts be restored—those in which I argued that the KGB should simply distance itself from that small handful of hooligan patriots who are damaging both her reputation and the reputation of the entire United States.

Leave the warning as it is, but return my posts; surely such a compromise can be reached?

Please.

If you feel that one of those deleted posts warrants a warning, then by all means, issue it. I only ask that you do not allow certain individuals to maliciously distort the context of my arguments to suit their own agendas. By deleting those posts, you have effectively handed them the tools to do exactly that. It simply isn't fair.

I’ve moved this post to where it actually belongs. This thread really should have been locked already; it’s currently triggering a massive troll fest—which was deleted, by the way, so now nobody can make heads or tails of what's going on.
To be perfectly honest, after reading your explanation, I think I finally grasp exactly where you're coming from. However, I felt compelled to step in and address that initial post on principle alone; it was far too inflammatory and triggered such a chaotic backlash and a wave of mass deletions that I simply couldn't let it slide.

I shall take another look at this and decide whether I will restore your explanatory post or simply delete this entire cardboard farce.

Edit:
Not a single one of your posts following that blatant refusal was ever deleted. It is entirely possible you simply overlooked them.
