M. Night Shyamalan: The Man and His Work

Dedicated to everyone who insists they saw the twist in Sixth Sense coming halfway through their first viewing:

It’s not even that complicated... 🙄 The guy spends the whole movie just interacting with one kid, while everyone else just stands there staring like statues, barely reacting to anything. I guess that isn't exactly rare in Shyamalanesque films 😁, but this was only the second one I'd seen back then, so I didn't realize that was just his style (if I had known, maybe I wouldn't have thought that way). When the kid started explaining how the ghosts don't realize they're dead, I actually figured it out. But whatever. The concept was decent, I suppose, but it doesn't matter since the whole movie is boring me anyway.

I didn't see the twist in Unbreakable coming (though my friend claims he did 😁), but man, that hit hard. 😲 And I watched that right after the sixth one.

I’ll be the first to admit I didn't quite grasp the twist in Sixth Sense back when it first hit theaters. I was just some kid at the time, far too inexperienced with the whole ghost story genre to see it coming. My apologies to everyone for that oversight. However, failing to catch it then actually served a purpose, as it helped me instantly decipher the twist in The Others later on. 😁

I guess they really missed the mark with the last two, specifically Airbender and that whole mess with Will Smith!

I still find myself enjoying his work, even though I sort of lost interest a while back. I have this nagging feeling that there’s maybe one really incredible movie buried deep within his filmography somewhere, so I guess I'll keep giving him a chance.

I didn't really catch the whole "sixth" sense thing while I was watching—and honestly, figuring out the plot isn't even my thing
I just enjoy the ride, you know?

And look, After Earth wasn't actually that bad in my book

I don't get why everyone is constantly tearing this guy down

I still remember Happening as a decent movie—not sure what the big deal was with people hating on it either
