It took me a while to realize that once I actually get moving and start my training, there’s really no way to slow down. I just dive headfirst into it every single time, and it gets pretty intense.

Back in the day, I used to blast music just to get hyped up, which honestly just made everything feel even more massive and overwhelming, so lately I've actually started using music as a way to wind down instead.

I think I've gotten too strong for my own good because now I feel this constant, nagging need to train every single day. It's reached a point where I have to do my training in total silence—no music at all—and I only save the tunes for the end of the session on those days when I'm struggling to kill the urge to keep going. You know the feeling... "just one more set," "one more round," "just one more rep"...

onTopic track: Gym Motivation - Training Session [youtube.com]

Does anyone else deal with this kind of addictive bullshit, and if so, how do you actually manage it?

Also, drop some tracks that you use to chill out.
Personally, I vibe best with songs that have heavy lyrics describing the sheer grit and strength you build through grinding every day. What about you guys?

ps.
Look, I get that once you catch the fitness bug, it's nearly impossible to quit, but I don't want to push myself so hard that I literally burst at the seams. Besides, I've already got enough stretch marks to last a lifetime.

The classic rebuilding struggle... plus drugs, obviously. Way more drugs now. 😳

Look, I don't even touch supplements, let alone any of that "bodybuilder juice." And I’m definitely not some "overbuilt" meathead because honestly, based on how little time I actually spend training, it wouldn't even be physically possible.

My whole routine is geared toward actual mental and physical endurance. I couldn't care less about that fake, artificial strength you get from grinding away in a gym doing vanity lifts—strength that won't do a damn thing for you in real life.

So, can we please cut out the nonsense?

edit:
Oh, right, I really need to drop a song in here.

An on-topic track for ya: THCF - Anthem of the KBK Winner [youtube.com]

Don't start talking nonsense if you can't handle people talking nonsense back at you. Back off.

You didn't even include the song. 😬

Seriously though, walk me through it—what exactly was so "stupid" about what I wrote?

Since when is having a different approach to your training considered total bullshit?
get lost.

And where am I supposed to find people who actually have similar training experiences? You got a suggestion, or are you just... I don't know, aggressively defending some random PDF you found online?

Honestly, just go do some UFC training. There are tons of clubs all over the US now and it's blowing up...

That's how you get actual strength. You'll actually know how to fight if lifting isn't your thing...

You’ll get that real-deal functional strength and actually learn how to hold your own in a scrap if weightlifting isn't really your thing.

Appreciate the tip, man, but I’ve got zero interest in conditioning my reflexes for combat scenarios [1], and I definitely don't want to spend my workout sessions constantly visualizing myself punching someone in the face.

What I’m actually looking for is what kind of music the people who take an extreme approach to non-extreme, non-violent, and non-competitive sports/workouts listen to—you know, using music as a way to chill out those intense physical urges. I know I need to work out, but I need different vibes, stuff that actually calms me down.

I realize that by being this specific, I might be targeting a tiny niche of people who play soothing tracks, but I’m just hunting for different things to listen to so I don't end up skipping my workouts entirely.

[1] I have no desire to train my brain to instinctively figure out how to neutralize an opponent or automatically slip into a defensive or offensive stance when something goes sideways. As long as my legs are working, running away is always my best bet.
