And you're still out here talking nonsense about how Sebastian Vettel was handed that win on Saturday. 🤣🤦

No, my mother.
Sebastian Vettel was faster at Ferrari than Lewis Hamilton was at Mercedes. Why is that so hard for people to just admit?
There’s no reason to start throwing a tantrum at Ferrari, but there is plenty of reason to celebrate. We got the opening win, the raw speed is clearly there, and even that German perfection isn't looking quite as flawless as everyone thought.

What was that whole deal with Lewis's Plan B? Why did they just scrap such a long shot of a strategy anyway?
Don't forget that Bottas ended up finishing just 1.3 seconds behind Lewis.

Sebastian Vettel deservedly got what he got—well, maybe not on Saturday—but Max Verstappen was absolutely key, just like everyone else was saying...

What a pointless debate...
It’s obvious to everyone that Sebastian Vettel benefited from Lewis Hamilton finishing behind Max Verstappen; there is absolutely nothing to argue there.
However, I see no reason to claim that Vettel won solely because of Verstappen. Hamilton wouldn't have been able to overtake Verstappen in that Red Bull Racing car while on old tires, and even after Verstappen moved out of the way, Vettel in the Ferrari couldn't even begin to close the gap. At most, Verstappen simply reduced the pressure on Vettel, allowing him to cruise to the finish line. But to suggest he was the deciding factor? Hardly.

The only thing that really bugs me was how Sebastian Vettel tried to hunt down Lewis on track—if Lewis had just stayed out for a few more laps, he would've been caught, since he was within less than a second before finally pulling into the pits.
Maybe if he’d just defended his position and slowed both himself and Vettel down enough, they both might have ended up finishing behind Max after the pit stops.

I mean, obviously he was going to go for it; Seb is a total fighter and always drives to grab the best possible spot. Those days of playing it safe and using timid tactics in the red car are pretty much long gone.

Hamilton said there’s zero chance he could have held him off...
Yeah, right. That's exactly why he pitted. If his tires were actually that shot, he definitely would've spun off the track trying to defend the lead.

http://www.eurosport.com/formula-1/v...14/story.shtml

"I was struggling to keep up, but still hanging in there," Vettel said of his first stint. "I knew I needed to be right behind him.

"Once it was clear that he went in, there was no point to follow. We stayed out, the tyres were still holding on and the pace looked alright.

"It was very tight. I knew that Max would probably try something but I just kept in front.

"That was obviously crucial for our race, I tried to push for as hard as I could for the one or two Max was still out to open a bit of a gap and control the race.

"We did a very good race. I'm very happy with the calls today."

And you're still over here insisting Seb won the race on Saturday...
🤣 🤦

Vettel is saying in this article that the key was that HE came out ahead of Max.

That goes without saying, but he wouldn't have come out ahead of Hamilton if Max hadn't pitted.

Listen, I know that quote by heart, whether it's in English or American.
So you still think it's an uphill battle for SF. 🤦

And what was your actual response? 🤦

1) Sebastian Vettel didn't win the race on Saturday

2) If Max hadn't pitted, Hamilton and Vettel wouldn't have ended up ahead of Hamilton

No, you're the one who got beat...
If Sebastian Vettel had started third behind Valtteri Bottas or fourth behind Bottas and Kimi, he absolutely would have spent one stint glued to Lewis Hamilton's gearbox just to dive right past him during the pit stops.
Oh yeah, absolutely. He’d probably try to pull the whole thing off by asking that clown Christian Horner and Marko how to make it happen. 🤣

Where on earth did you get that information?
I bet that was straight from the mouths of the geniuses Christian Horner and Marko. 🙂

Marko, I’m pretty sure he would have finished ahead of Kimi, and Max wasn't even close to being on the track to block Hamilton...
http://en.mclarenf-1.com/index.php?p...x%20Verstappen
Is that a bit clearer now? 🍿

Did you catch that? Kimi was actually breathing down Max Verstappen's neck around lap 17 or 18, right when Lewis Hamilton was still stuck behind him.
It’s pretty obvious that Kimi could have easily dropped those two seconds and completely shut Lewis Hamilton down if he actually needed to. 🙂
He could have stalled out for as long as he wanted if he felt like it. Honestly, I almost feel bad that he didn't, because if he had, maybe Toto Wolff would be tossing tables around the garage instead of just slamming them. 🤣

Does it click for you now? Ferrari was sitting there ready to go. The second Hamilton had to pit because his tires were absolutely shot, they had a perfect checkmate strategy waiting on a silver platter if they actually decided to use it.
Max being where he is right now is pure luck. They didn't even need to pull that tactic, though they definitely could have.

It was obvious from the first few laps that Kimi didn't have the pace to catch Valtteri Bottas. Once Lewis Hamilton pitted, they could have easily messed with his rhythm using Kimi, and Kimi would still have ended up in the exact same spot. Honestly, even if Kimi had come out right behind Max Verstappen after the pit stops, Red Bull Racing wouldn't have stood a chance at holding him back.

Regarding Vettel's statement...

Get better at reading. 😵
And you even bold the most important part of that statement, yet you still haven't figured out what the writer actually meant. 🤦

Things were incredibly close. I already knew that. Max probably would have tried a move, but I just held my line and stayed right in front of him.

That was clearly a game-changer for our race.

I mean, I honestly don't get it. After all this back-and-forth, you still aren't grasping what Vettel was saying. He was making it clear that the whole race came down to one thing: his ability to hold him off from Max Verstappen.
Basically, the key thing is that Max didn't just blast past him right after exiting the pits... if you actually watched the race instead of just reading Horner's quotes, you'd see things got pretty intense and Max nearly overtook him at the very first turn after the pit exit.
Because once he stayed ahead of Max, he could just manage his pace without taking any risks or worrying about Hamilton ever catching up.

And obviously, Vettel would have trashed his tires just like Hamilton did if he'd finished right behind Max immediately after his pit stop.
In that scenario, Vettel's race would have been a totally different story, making a win way harder to pull off even if Hamilton had still ended up behind him at that moment...
Ferrari is notoriously gentle on their tires, which means they struggle to get them up to temp. I would've absolutely shredded them if he'd tried to pass Max during those opening laps when they weren't even at operating temperature—or god forbid, gotten a flat spot in all that fighting...

Yeah, then Max would definitely deserve some credit for Hamilton's win because he would've wrecked the Ferrari...
But for Ferrari, it wouldn't have mattered at all. All that matters is that Hamilton ruined his tires and had to pit. With those trashed tires in the first stint and Hamilton pitting, Max doesn't gain anything from it. ☕

Hey Tib, how’s everything going with you? 😁

By the way, looking at those times you posted...

It’s actually pretty fascinating to me how Kimi handled that Formula 1 lap—he just breezed through it without any drama, totally nonchalant, and then just rolled right back into his rhythm for the next lap like it was nothing.

It’s clear he had the pace; it just seems like Ferrari wasn't particularly worried about Red Bull Racing, so they were likely just cruising and being extremely conservative with the engine.

I don't really see the point in arguing about something everyone saw with their own eyes and already reached a conclusion on. People love taking all the credit—they won't say, "Hey, Max actually helped me out," instead they'll claim, "Yeah, I deserved to get ahead of him," which is technically true... but let's be real—if Max hadn't cut Hamilton off, he never would have pulled ahead of Lewis in the first place.

Get out there and actually talk to people for once...
Christian Horner and Marko aren't the center of the universe, and they definitely aren't the only people on this planet...

Who are they all supposed to be? 🙂
The Mercedes team is basically just repeating my exact words—they're trying to blame their own screw-up on tire wear after being slower than Ferrari.
Even if Max staying on track was just another stroke of bad luck for them, they were losing that race regardless of him.

Angry Wolf said:We honestly thought we had it figured out. We were banking on Max pitting early to get him into clean air, but everything just hit the fan at once. It was a perfect storm of bad timing and variables working against us.
It wasn't even all about Verstappen. Even if Max Verstappen had just pulled into the pits or slowed down to wave Lewis Hamilton past, it wouldn't have changed anything.
Kimi Räikkönen was pulling ahead just a bit.
And Ferrari basically forced him to stay in the back just to make sure Vettel stayed clear ahead.

Look at that... even the Angry Wolf isn't part of that group.

Look, Max isn't some supernatural entity that the genius Christian Horner pulled out of a hat at a preschool recital, thinking he’d found the smartest kid on the planet along with Marko. 🤣

Anyway, looks like we actually learned something here...

Moving on to the next lesson:
https://www.formula1.com/en/video/20...Australia.html

Watch the video above and tell me what you think the driver means from 0:55 to 1:04 when he says, "OK, I guess we didn't save it." 🤔

What exactly didn't they save, and what was even supposed to be saved in the first place?

Most people around here have their favorites, whether they’re rooting for specific drivers or entire teams, which makes staying objective a bit of a tall order. If you ask me, this is essentially what went down in Los Angeles:

1. At the start, Lewis was pushing hard and building up a decent gap ahead of the Crybaby.
2. Once those tires started giving up, the Crybaby began to close the distance.
3. Then Lewis pits for fresh rubber, only to emerge right behind the little brat—who, let's be honest, is a nightmare to overtake... but still...
4. Come Sunday, Lewis wouldn't have been able to pass anyone anyway, since nobody actually made a move on anyone unless there was a driver error ahead or a mechanical failure.
5. A few of the drivers were clearly aware of that fourth point, so they didn't bother overextending; they just focused on preserving both the engine and the car.

So, the bottom line isn't really about the little brat; it’s all about the timing of Lewis's pit stop.

Personally, I'm happy for Ferrari's win, even if it was the Crybaby who took it—he's not exactly my favorite guy—but I think it's way too early to start the victory lap or pass final judgment on what a team is truly capable of, because the track in Los Angeles just doesn't provide the full picture. We need to wait for a few more races before things really become clear...
