This movie is living proof that you don't need a massive Hollywood budget to build a creepy, believable atmosphere.

Honestly, one of the better horror flicks I've seen in a while. Definitely worth a watch if you're into the genre.

It follows this young couple heading out to a remote cabin for their Honeymoon, but things start getting weird pretty fast.

I know, I know—it sounds totally cliché, but hey, it’s 2014 and we've all seen this trope a thousand times anyway.

So, the lead is Rose Leslie from Game of Thrones and Downton Abbey, and she honestly killed it here. She really gives a damn about her characters.

I just finished watching it, and honestly? I was pleasantly surprised. It’s funny because, lately, it feels like the quality of horror movies has actually been on the rise—finally! You look at stuff like The Conjuring or Insidious, and you realize we're finally getting back to some real, solid filmmaking in the genre.

Caught this a few days ago. It was fine enough, I suppose, until it hit the final act. Honestly? I think they missed a massive opportunity there; they could have handled the ending much better.

Just a heads-up: if you’re looking for mindless gore, limbs flying everywhere, or anything involving Satan, you’re going to be disappointed.

Honestly, I have to say that Honeymoon was hands down one of my absolute favorite movies from this past year. I was genuinely blown away by it! 🙂

Honestly, this stands out as one of the better horror films we've seen in recent memory.

It just goes to show what you can achieve with nothing more than three actors and a single, isolated house. Much respect to the filmmakers for that.

I felt the exact same way—it was really good. My only gripe was the ending. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't bad, but I think they could have executed it better.

And I can still vividly recall what I ended up watching a few months later 😁 which, compared to the absolute garbage they serve us nowadays, is actually a huge plus

Watching this movie followed by Under the Skin (2013) feels like the ultimate heavy-hitting double feature—the kind where you walk out of the theater feeling completely and utterly emotionally drained. 🙂

I’d been looking forward to this horror flick for ages, but man, what a letdown. As soon as things started getting weird, I was thinking, *ALIENS* 😁
But I was really hoping it wouldn't actually go down that path. I thought it would be more of a psychological thriller—you know, exploring how newlyweds actually get to know each other through those dark, messy interpersonal dynamics. Like, do we really know the people we love? But once the husband started pulling an alien (whatever that even was) out of his wife, I was pretty much done. The movie is confusing, but not in a good way. It’s just... stupidly confusing. For instance, the wife tells her husband a million times—after he catches her digging around in a pool of blood in the bathroom—that she absolutely has to go to the bedroom. Okay, fine, I guess something major must be happening there. So they go to the room. And then... nothing. There are so many scenes where a character insists on doing something for no apparent reason, and then nothing happens. I don't get it. Just empty filler and wasted time.

The acting wasn't really my thing either. They just didn't feel real to me, I guess.
I wouldn't say the movie is garbage, but considering what I was expecting, it felt pretty mid.

The one saving grace is the creepy atmosphere, which they built up really well. Honestly, if I hadn't seen the ending, I might have thought it was a much better film.

Oh, I love this! Speaking of similar vibes, I actually really dig Antichrist by Lars von Trier. From what I can gather, it’s got those same parallels to Honeymoon... you know, that whole thing where they head out into nature to just lose themselves in it and be alone, but then everything starts getting weird and dark with the wife, and it totally starts messing with her husband's head too...

I feel like if John Waters were to describe this movie, he’d say something like, "It's like Ingmar Bergman rose from the grave just to whip up a depressing exploitation flick about sex, violence, and pure coldness." Something along those lines, anyway...

Plus, there's all that violence and blood and stuff like that...

I watched this quite some time ago, and I found it rather engaging, even if it hasn't exactly burned itself into my long-term memory. It delivers a genuine sense of suspense.
