Alright, let's see if anyone can actually provide me with a decent gaming PC configuration for around 400 bucks...
It doesn't strictly have to hit that 400 mark exactly, it can certainly go a bit over, provided we stay roughly in that neighborhood...

Hey, tell me if I could run all the newer games on low settings, or maybe even lower, and what my upgrade options look like here...

I'd probably just stick to Apple or Medium settings, I guess, depending on the resolution and what game we're talking about

If you're actually looking to upgrade, honestly—you're better off going with an Intel build since they have a way better selection of beefier CPUs to choose from:

i3 4150
AS ROCK H81M VG4
KINGSTON 4GB 1600 MHZ
TOSHIBA 3,5 500 GB SATA 3
MSI R7 250X 1GB DDR5 OC
LITE ON DVD-RW SATA
SILVERSTONE STRIDER 500W
MS PHOENIX MIDI ATX

That'll run you about $400, including shipping and all the work to get it put together.

@ mclovin

What is the point of even looking at an R7 250 when the R7 260 is only 100$67 more expensive? It makes zero sense.
I’m siding with the i3 here. It is objectively superior in every single metric compared to those old AMD Ryzen 5 750k or 760k series chips, especially when you actually try to play games.

The i3 is an unfairly overlooked processor. It packs 2+2 cores, and honestly, that hyper-threading tech is nothing short of a miracle.

Why even bother with an R7 250 when the R7 260 is leagues ahead?$67 More expensive??????
I'm sticking with the i3. It’s consistently faster in every way compared to the AMD Ryzen 5 or that 760k series, especially when you're gaming.

People sleep on the i3. It’s got those 2+2 cores and hyper-threading makes it a beast. Like putting a turbocharger on a compact car—it just works.

It's just not 2+2 anymore. No logic left.
It’s got 2 cores and 2 threads, but those threads aren't the same thing as 2 physical cores. You can't compare them that way.

On the flip side, those Ryzen 5 chips actually have four real cores. Sure, they might lag behind an Intel Core i5, but for a budget build? It’s a no-brainer. Most modern games won't even touch a dual-core setup anymore, making the Ryzen 5 a much smarter buy than an i3.

Ryzen 5 vs. Core i5. It's a toss-up. $183 Why bother with an i3 when you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere? $300Look, that performance gap isn't worth the extra $300.$117 Included in the price.

My monitor is somewhere around 19 or 20 inches, I can't quite be certain...

You'll probably just crank everything up to high settings

And what about GTA V... will I actually be able to run that, or am I just dreaming... how realistic are my chances there?

It really all comes down to how they optimize it—the release is still a few months away, and they haven't even dropped the recommended system requirements yet.

Nobody can tell you that yet, probably not even the folks at Rockstar 😁

I’d say there’s a 99.9% chance that's how it plays out—honestly, I'd just hold off and keep an eye on things for another 3 or 4 months.🙂
