So, here’s the deal—over the last few months, my stomach has gotten noticeably bigger. It’s actually reached the point where a few people have asked if I’m pregnant (which is a hard no, obviously). Then, an acquaintance dropped this bombshell on me, saying that sudden bloating like this can be a sign of ovarian cancer. Honestly, I totally freaked out because I am such a massive hypochondriac. Just for context, I’m 20, my periods are regular, though they are super painful. What do you guys think—should I go see a doctor about the bloating (it doesn't hurt, just feels soft), or is there really nothing to worry about?

Have you noticed any significant weight gain elsewhere?

Just go see a gynecologist so they can take a look. Nobody on an internet forum is going to give you a medical diagnosis, and if you just listen to random acquaintances or Dr. Google, you're probably just going to spend the whole time panicking for no reason.

So, I’ve definitely put on a little weight lately—but honestly, I don't think it's just about the scale. My arms and legs are still pretty slim, but my stomach... man, it looks huge compared to everything else. It's giving me major pregnancy vibes! One day it seems to settle down a bit, and the next, it's just massive. I know nobody here can give me an actual medical diagnosis, but I was wondering—is it totally overkill to go see a doctor just because of my bloating/stomach size if I don't really have any other symptoms? 🤷

It’s not stupid at all, and honestly, what you’re going through isn't even normal.
You need to worry about your own health, not how someone else might interpret things.
Go see a doctor.

Look, carrying extra weight around the midsection isn't exactly a new phenomenon—it’s just certainly not ideal for the overall body composition. In some cases, it can actually be a hallmark sign of PCOS—polycystic ovary syndrome. Sometimes it’s more about bloating than actual fat, though it's no secret that when stress levels spike, the body tends to dump most of its fat storage right in the abdominal area rather than elsewhere, often leaving it feeling quite soft to the touch.

If this is weighing on you that much, I suppose the best approach is to tackle it one step at a time. Maybe start by seeing a gynecologist regarding the ovaries, and then handle everything else as you see fit. 🙂
