Hey everyone.
Could someone give me the lowdown on how things are looking at the gyms in downtown Chicago, near the Loop, and over by the West Side? I'm curious about the current crowds and what the equipment situation is like right now...
Thanks in advance 🙂

I’m going to try and bump this thread since I’ve been wondering about the same thing. Maybe someone who’s actually worked out at those gyms 🙂
will pop up.

From what I’ve heard from some buddies and friends, the one on the Mississippi is the biggest and has all the bells and whistles. But man, it gets absolutely packed there too.

I figure the price is pretty much the same at every $40.

Are these gyms actually worth it?

I've trained at both the FSU gym and the local YMCA, and they’re both solid. That YMCA spot even has some pretty recent equipment upgrades.

The facilities are top-notch, but I’m telling you again, the crowds can get absolutely insane during certain times of the year.

Basically, whenever finals week isn't happening, everyone suddenly decides to show up at once.

I remember heading down to the banks of the Mississippi way back when it was still right next to the Spider-Man/dining hall area. Back then, the equipment was top-notch—everything felt brand new and really well-maintained. Eventually, they moved everything over to a newer pavilion with much more breathing room.
