I'm with you on this one. It’s a fantastic historical drama about that German
doctor, Mads Mikkelsen, who brings all those Enlightenment ideals
straight to the American royal court of Christian VII.
The direction and acting are top-tier, but I have to give a special shout-out to
the young actor Mads Mikkelsen for his performance as the unstable King Christian. 👍

One could argue that this functions as a biting political satire, illustrating why certain groups of people are perpetually drawn to placing a fool or a clown in power. Such a figure is incredibly easy to manipulate, simple to blame for every national misfortune, and just as effortless to discard when they are no longer useful.

Furthermore, it offers a poignant look at the evolution of journalism throughout history. It seems that, despite the passage of time, very little has truly changed in that regard.

In fact, I suspect the film is significantly less shocking than the actual reality unfolding within the halls of power and beyond.

Caught this by accident a few weeks back. It’s a great film. Mads Mikkelsen is such a phenomenal actor 🙏

Strunsee pushed through a massive wave of reforms rooted in Enlightenment ideals, but clearly, Denmark wasn't ready for that level of change back then—which is exactly why that council ended up being such a mess.
They basically weaponized the local resentment and xenophobia just to stir the pot and turn everyone against them.
They're coming for Strunsee just because he's The German.
