Greetings, everyone,
I would love to get some expert advice to help me finally make a decision. You all were so helpful when I was picking out a machine for my eldest daughter two years ago, and now it is my second daughter's turn...
Essentially, I am looking for a laptop for schoolwork, learning Microsoft Office, watching movies, and she will likely want to play a few games. Based on my experience with my older child, cheaper laptops aren't exactly built for gaming—unless you have nerves of steel and a lot of patience! I am not looking for anything extreme, but I want something that will last her about three years without me needing to worry about upgrading to something faster. I'll handle the replacement once she hits high school.
Since the laptop will mostly stay at home rather than being carried around constantly, I have been looking at a 17-inch model...

Thank you all in advance on behalf of my daughter and myself!!

That Apple laptop would be fine if you just want some light gaming. The others? Not even close. The only downside with Apple is the build quality feels a bit cheaper than most other budget options out there.

If you’re cool with just using integrated graphics, then go with the Dell.

By the way, before $1000, you could always go with a laptop that has a more powerful graphics card click
