Hey everyone.

I was wondering if it's actually possible for an average person to just go out and buy antivenom for rattlesnakes, copperheads, or black widows. If it is, where would I even find it, do I need a prescription from a doctor, and what kind of price tag am I looking at?

Thanks.

So, I’ve been digging through the archives for ages trying to make sense of this whole mess, and honestly, this is the closest thing I've found to a real answer—just check out point number 8 here:

Yeah, I read that too, but I'm looking for the actual reality of the situation... surely there’s a pharmacist on here who can weigh in? Can you just walk into a CVS and ask for an antidote (I highly doubt it), or how does one actually get their hands on it?

Luckily for us "regular folks," that’s still not really an option.
Handing out antivenom isn't exactly a casual thing you do without consequences.
You really need a professional watching over things to assess whether applying antivenom is actually the right call for that specific bite.
