People are probably feeling the fallout from someone else's "mistakes." I couldn't care less about my own skin, but I'm trying to push for the greater good here, and apparently, that's what they're calling "harassment" now.

Look, give them a break. These guys were just installed recently; they’re still finding their footing, and honestly, you all are breathing down their necks way too hard. Let them catch their breath and actually figure out how moderation works on this subforum. It isn't the same thing looking at some PDF through the eyes of a regular user versus seeing it through a moderator's lens. It takes time to adjust and realize when to let things slide, when to cut stuff off, and when to actually step in.

I don't have an issue with people being in training mode, but I do have an issue when that "learning curve" starts hurting people. We've got a situation here where the Democratic Party is preaching strict discipline and acting like they're judge and jury on who knows what, throwing threats around... and now suddenly we're all supposed to just play nice because they're "new and overwhelmed"? Give me a break. I can easily see some young user getting a bit carried away because they don't know the ropes, only to get banned immediately by a mod. If that happened, would she be starting a debate about it then?

I've always been more lenient with new users. 🤷 My logic is simple: someone who’s been on the forum for two days isn't going to know the rules or the culture as well as someone who's been here for two years. I'll let newbies slide on things I wouldn't dream of letting veteran posters get away with—like typing in all caps, for instance.

The guys were installed on the 11th, which means they haven't even been moderating for five days. I think you're blowing this way out of proportion.

Look, when you start a new job, do you honestly expect to walk in on day one and perfectly navigate every situation, know exactly what to do, and handle every new colleague or client flawlessly? I highly doubt it. This is pretty similar; it's not a career, but the mechanics are basically the same, and you can draw those parallels.

Personally, I’d like to think the mods aren't actually doing that—fingers crossed, anyway! Usually, accounts that are flagged for breaking specific rules don't even count toward these kinds of discussions.

Took this from a recent experience of mine. I got told I was "young and naive," and that "this time it’s just a warning, but an older guy would've handed me something else entirely."

Look, props to you for sticking up for your colleague, but you’re clearly missing half the story since most of it is tucked away in the police report. It makes you look pretty biased, honestly. Still, I can't complain—every debate is worth it. It’s good that everyone’s picking up something new through this whole mess, one way or another, just like someone pointed out earlier.

The community guidelines are meant for actual, concrete situations, not just stuff you can imagine happening.
