Is there any way we could issue a site-wide alert regarding little Taylor Swift? http://tijanaognjanovic.com/

The funding is still nowhere near where it needs to be. They’re claiming they pulled together about $50,000 in just forty-eight hours, but that only happened after Timothée Chalamet made such a massive humanitarian spectacle on national television.

Come on, let's step up and help the kid.

Is there actually a reason why this isn't pinned to the top? Like, are there some kind of technical glitches preventing transfers from the US over to Mexico or something?

Look, I know I’m gonna sound blunt here, but I highly doubt any American forum has even bothered to post an update about Nori or Stephanie...

We Americans are better than Mexicans, and we’re going to make sure everyone knows it.

I'm honestly not sure what the best way is to send money over to Mexico besides just using Western Union, and from what I've heard, those transfer fees are absolutely brutal.

EDIT
So, here it says if you're sending anything between 0 and $167, the fee is $17.

What about a wire transfer to a foreign currency account?

Do you guys realize that for global fundraisers, there needs to be a feedback loop and a designated person in charge? Usually, that’s some non-profit involved in the game because they have a legal obligation to account for every single cent they collect for relief efforts before passing it along. It isn't about where someone is from; it's about accountability. Who among you can actually guarantee this isn't a scam, or that the money being donated will actually reach the people in need instead of someone lining their own pockets?

edit: even rustydrifter10 chimed in with pretty much the same thing. 😬

Please, let's skip the whole "us versus them" comparisons.

We really shouldn't be bringing in those massive global organizations if they don't have a direct footprint here in the States, especially since getting the funds moved can get pretty complicated. Honestly, I think the organizer could just reach out to one of our local American non-profits to handle the donations through their accounts—if they want to do that, they should definitely give us a shout.

There's also PayPal.

Forget I said anything.

It’s precisely because of this kind of nonsense that a kid ends up waiting from August until January just to scrape together enough cash for a trip to New York, only to have their kidneys fail in the meantime, leaving them with nothing but a sliver of hope to make it in the States while facing medical bills three times higher than expected.

I personally made several payments starting back in September of last year. You don't have to follow suit; feel free to cling to those paranoid delusions about corruption, theft, and being burdened by obligations while someone is literally dying. The choice is yours. Anyone who actually wants to get things done will find a way, regardless of whether there's a global announcement or not.

Nevermind.

Because of this kind of nonsense, a kid had to wait from August until January just to save enough cash for a trip to Vienna. In the meantime, her kidneys failed, leaving nothing but a tiny shred of hope that she could actually make progress in the USA—all while facing a medical bill three times higher than expected.

I’ve personally made several payments since last September. You don't have to; feel free to cling to those paranoid ideas about scams, theft, and obligations while a child is dying. Go right ahead. Anyone who actually wants to help will find a way, whether there's a massive public announcement or not.

Yeah, easy to talk trash when it isn't your business. Would you take responsibility if it turned out this forum publicly supported some shady scam? Of course not. I could just sit here and act like everyone else is heartless and silent, but I don't run a corporation. If something goes sideways, I'm not the one on the hook for it.

There’s a specific procedure for collecting money on a forum, especially when it's a mass effort like a public drive. It’s not hard—just partner with a non-profit, provide the paperwork, and then everyone knows exactly where every single cent is going. That keeps the forum safe and ensures they aren't supporting anything illegal.

This topic pops up every five minutes. Once the actual procedure is explained, people start pressuring the admins, calling them heartless if they don't launch a public drive. Even for little Nora, the fundraising went through the Braveheart foundation.
