I haven't seen anyone else bring this up here on the forum, but I’ve been wondering lately about how common these repetitive strain injuries actually are when you're using a computer mouse all day.
It started out as nothing more than a minor annoyance back in high school, but now, over a decade later, the persistent ache in my right shoulder blade has become impossible to ignore.
Apparently, the culprit is the way most of us position our hands while working; since the keyboard usually sits right where the mouse should be, the mouse ends up pushed far out to the side, forcing the shoulder muscles—in my case, the right side since I'm right-handed—to constantly hold my arm out in mid-air, which means they're under tension for hours on end.
Has anyone else dealt with this kind of strain in their trapezius muscle, and if so, what actually works for relief, whether it's seeing a chiropractor or getting regular massages?
I'm honestly just relieved that I finally realized what was causing this so I can actually start fixing it, so I'll leave a few links here that might help anyone else looking for information:
