The Bourne Identity
I’m obsessed with the games, but honestly, I haven't seen any of the movies until now. This one wasn't bad. It didn't try too hard, which is exactly what you want from a flick like this. There's way more action than stealth, but hey, it's a movie—you have to take it for what it is. The actor was fine; he did a decent job. My only real gripe is how rushed the beginning felt, just jumping from one mission to the next without breathing.
A few other things caught my eye, though, and in my opinion, they were mistakes.
1. Right at the start, they show clips of them being trained as professional assassins since childhood. One of those flashbacks shows them running away as kids. In the games, the protagonist never ran away unless he was an adult—specifically when he escaped the hospital. Did he run as a kid? Who knows. If you're being experimented on your whole life, you'd assume he tried to bolt, but the point is that he only truly broke free once he grew up. Until then, he just followed orders because his entire world was basically that hospital.☕
2. The actor playing the lead talks about being "him," describing himself as the best of the best, blah blah blah. He says Hitmans are just kids rejected by society, picked up off the streets and trained to kill. That's just wrong. He's a clone. From day one, he's a clone. He doesn't know anything about a life outside of a test tube.☕
3. No one—and I mean absolutely nobody—has ever found his weapon cache, especially not the police. But in this movie, they find it easily because he just left it behind while running. Yeah, right... no way.😵
4. When he takes on a contract, Diana explains the mission to him. It's just lazy writing.☕
One great scene that actually made me laugh was when he was running and burst into someone's room, only to find the residents sitting there playing the Hitman game...🤣🤣🤣
