I'm honestly not sure where the best place to ask this would be... but here goes. So, my partner had her last period back on December 5th of last year, and we went in for a checkup with her OB-GYN on January 23rd. According to the doctor, she was already about 6 and a half weeks along at that appointment. I’m just trying to wrap my head around the math—does anyone know roughly when conception could have actually happened?

I don't follow... what part is confusing you? Are you asking if she was pregnant before her period or right after? A woman can still have a period for a couple of months and be pregnant... it happens. An American doctor isn't going to give you an exact minute or day; they only deal in approximations.

It’s really starting to sit wrong with me... I have this nagging feeling I'm being lied to. Something just isn't adding up, you know? Like when you're looking at a puzzle and one piece is clearly from a different box entirely. It just doesn't square with reality.

Pregnancy can happen anytime—before, during, or right after a period. If you’re sitting here doubting she’s actually pregnant by you, then this whole thread title is irrelevant. Honestly, I'm starting to suspect you're just trolling at this point.

Totally normal.

Technically, the first day of a woman's period counts as day one of the pregnancy.

So, if her last period started on, say, December 1st, her peak fertility would be around December 14th. If you guys were hooking up around those dates and she ovulated, her pregnancy would be tracked starting from December 1st.

Otherwise, it’s perfectly possible for a woman to conceive a few days after—or even during—her cycle.

See, from a medical standpoint, the first day of your period is actually considered day one of the pregnancy.

So, if her last cycle started, say, on December 1st, she would have been at peak fertility around the 14th. If you guys were being intimate around those dates and she happened to ovulate, her pregnancy would be calculated starting from December 1st.

But if that's how it works, then why did my OB-GYN tell me I'm six and a half weeks along? Because that timing doesn't line up at all with my own tracking.

Actually, it’s quite the opposite; my cycle is incredibly regular...

Forget the math.

It’s not weird at all for ovulation to hit 2-3 days after a period ends. When exactly was she active? For example, if her period ran from the 5th to the 10th...
And you guys had sex on the 12th, 14th, and 16th, using protection only after that? She’s pregnant.

I’m just saying this so you don't jump to conclusions too fast. There's always that chance it isn't yours, obviously.

A woman can definitely be pregnant even if she’s still getting her period. So, congrats on the little one! 😬

By the way, I guess the math says you guys actually timed it right during the last ovulation cycle. 🤣

How exactly does it *not* match up? From December 5th to January 23rd... that's 7 weeks... or 6 and a half, whatever. It's basically the same thing.

You’re obsessing over the exact hour, day, month, and year, but fertile windows tend to fluctuate... What I told you before remains true: pregnancy is calculated from the first day of your last period. If you don't trust us, there's always Google to verify things for you.

In the meantime, they had this massive blowout fight, and she was actually away for a whole week. So, we're talking about a gap of seven days between when things happened and now, and suddenly she’s saying she wants to terminate the pregnancy? I don't know... it just doesn't add up to me. It feels totally illogical, like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole. Something just isn't clicking.
