So, let me get this straight—this thread is getting shut down because it "isn't political"?

Funny thing is, last year there were at least two or three threads just like this one that, by some miracle, are still wide open. And they’re clearly political, too, since they’re all about the snow situation in Los Angeles. Those things have hundreds of pages of posts on them.
Just be fair for once and let us actually talk about what's happening in Chicago and whether the local crews and the people living there are actually ready for this.

For instance, this is what I'm looking at.

There's plenty of it out there if you care to look...

Why is it off-limits to discuss when everything is going sideways in Chicago, but perfectly fine to vent when things fall apart in LA or other cities? 🤷

I’d probably wrap this up a bit later than my colleague here; there isn't some official ban on discussing it.

In one of your own posts, you admitted you were just trolling:

I'm trolling. And I'm enjoying it.

I get where you're coming from, and the idea wasn't half bad, but it's far too snarky for the New York Times.

They were caught completely off guard by the snow, much like we were after fifty years of not seeing it. It's what happens when Mother Nature decides to show her teeth—now they likely realize some of them weren't being entirely fair about our situation.

Thread closed.

Honestly, absolutely nothing out of the ordinary happened, so I’d take everything those news reporters are shouting about with a massive grain of salt
🙂
Just hang tight for now, because who knows, maybe we'll all get hit by a tsunami or some other catastrophe instead

But you actually admitted in another thread that you were just trolling:

I get where you're coming from, and the idea itself wasn't half bad, but calling it "mockery" is a stretch for a place like the New York Times.

It’s like when we haven't seen snow in fifty years and then it hits us all at once—they got caught off guard just like the rest of us. When nature decides to show its teeth, things go sideways, and now they're likely realizing some of them weren't being fair about how our situation looked.

Point stands.

I was just messing with them by suggesting they grab some shovels and start clearing the streets themselves, since if memory serves, they were the ones suggesting folks in Chicago should just head out and shovel their own roads.
The topic itself is valid, though.

Whatever. I just feel for the people who couldn't manage.

Exactly what it says right there. Chaos. I just hope there’s less finger-pointing next time a natural disaster hits. We’re all equally unprepared, whether you're in Maine or Florida. No difference there.
