Of course there are overclocking options—that’s literally the whole point of the software: http://event.msi.com/vga/afterburner...r%20Manual.pdf

You can save multiple OC profiles too, so you just toggle between them whenever you feel like it.

My bad, I misspoke—I meant more like, how exactly do you go about the overclocking process? Is there a good tutorial out there somewhere?

Look, just head over to the overclocking subforum. You'll find him right there at the top of the list. Just scroll through and check out what people are actually saying after they push their clocks—everything you need to know is laid out clearly enough right there. 🙂

Look, I'm well aware of all that—I just didn't want to start an entirely new thread, like I mentioned before. 🙂

I don't want to clutter things up by starting a whole new thread, so I'll just jump in here. As most of you know, I'm currently running a GTX 660 Twin Frozr. If you were in my shoes, would you lean towards picking up a GTX 660 Ti or maybe an XFX 7950?

Nah. You've got one GPU that carries the whole damn load.
Why would he throw money away?

I wouldn't touch that with a ten-foot pole—though I bet Wahoo would probably find a way to force an SLI setup out of it anyway. 😁

Well, his board only has one PCI-e slot, so... 😬

I'm running an ASRock board right now, but the issue is I've only got one PCIe slot available 😁

I actually reached out to PCMag to get some advice on this—they basically told me that upgrading wouldn't really give me much of a boost, so it might not be worth the money. Their suggestion was to maybe just add another GTX 660 instead.

If people whose entire job is testing hardware are telling me it isn't worth it, I guess I should probably take their word for it, right? 😁

I've got... $267 $17 Should I go with the SIM or just put that money toward a better SSD instead?

So, if you're looking to go all out and want the absolute best SSD recommendations—like, "no budget constraints" kind of max—what are we actually looking at? Are you trying to squeeze every last drop of speed out of a high-end build, or just looking for something that won't fail you when you need it most? If you want top-tier performance, I'd say look toward the Samsung 990 Pro or maybe a WD Black SN850X. They’re pretty much the gold standard right now for NVMe drives if you want those lightning-fast load times. Honestly, though, it really depends on what you're planning to do with it—gaming, heavy video editing, or just general daily use? Let me know what your setup looks like and I can give you a more specific steer. $267 What if we could get it with 128GB? I mean, if that wouldn't be too much of a stretch—would it be possible to have it configured that way? Check out this online shop: www.amazon.comI was originally thinking about just picking up a new Hard Disk Drive since mine is starting to show some bad sectors, but then I realized—why not just go all in and swap it for an SSD? It would be much better to have the OS and all my programs running off the solid-state drive, while keeping the old Hard Disk Drive strictly for my game library. Now, the big question is how much longer that old drive is actually going to hold up? Is it going to give out in a few months, or could it potentially limp along for another couple of years? 😁

Edit: I meant this one: I was just browsing through some hardware listings online and stumbled upon this specific part—it’s an interesting find. Does anyone here have much experience with this particular model? I'm trying to get a better sense of how it holds up in a standard US build before I pull the trigger. It looks decent enough on paper, but you know how it goes—sometimes the specs tell one story while the actual performance tells another. What do you guys think? Is it worth picking up, or should I keep hunting for something else? But hey, if you have any better suggestions, please feel free to jump in—I'd really love to hit that 128GB mark rather than settling for 120GB. 😬 I mean, let's be real—8GB is actually plenty.

There’s no such thing as a 128 GB SSD—some of that space is always carved out for error correction and just general housekeeping junk. You’re realistically looking at having no more than 120 GB of actual usable room. Honestly, if you can stretch your budget a bit to grab the HyperX 3k, do it; it’s a step up in quality and significantly faster than those v200 or v300 models.

Wait, so if I go with the 120GB drive, am I going to end up with less than 112GB of actual space?

Yeah, I was talking about formatted space—you know, how 128 actually ends up being closer to 119, or 120 becomes 112, more or less.

So, I’m looking at this HyperX 3k online—the webshop has it listed for $277 plus $10 for shipping via Overseas—but if I just head down to the local Best Buy, they've got it for 950 🙂.
Which way is actually the better deal here?

Benjamin King2, that link I shared earlier—it’s not actually all that great, is it?

Look, if that one’s way out of your budget... just grab this instead:

That thing is seriously $267 in that specific hardware setup.

I actually reached out to PC Gamer for some advice. They suggested that upgrading wouldn't yield much of a performance jump, making it pretty much a waste of money unless I just added another 660.

There's really no need to upgrade, even if a GTX660 SLI setup is a beast.😉
That Twin Frozr card overclocks beautifully and can handle just about anything...

Max Payne 3 hits 54fps, Crysis runs at 48fps, BF3 gets 51fps—all on Ultra settings. It only struggles a bit with Metro, hitting about 22fps, but once you overclock it, it runs smoothly without any issues...

Man, it’s frustrating... you drop $600 on a GPU and still can't crank everything to max... it just has to be that way 🙂😂

Hey Wodoo, what’s your take on picking up a GTX 660 Ti Phantom? 😁 I’d have to shell out another $50 😬
