Post count

Good evening, everyone! I have a quick question
My post count has been stuck at 4 since I joined. If you take a look, I’m pretty sure I’ve actually put out at least 15 or 20 posts by now...
Is this just some weird little bug, or is it supposed to work like this? Like, does it only refresh every few days or something?

Out of 14 total, you have 9 posts in the general section. You're posting near the politics forum, where those don't count toward the total.

Why aren't the posts here being counted?

Yeah, I'm curious about that too. They don't seem to count toward the tally during coffee and socializing either. 🤷

I get why people head off to Reddit, there's way too much spam on here, and honestly, I don't see why everyone is getting so worked up over politics 🤷

Which specific PDF files aren't having their posts counted, and does anyone know why that's happening?

That’s just nonsense... there's always some fluff on every single thread, so counting those distractions is part of the game, really. If people only hang out in threads where everything is strictly counted, they end up looking like they aren't even contributing much to the community at all. Some topics are honestly just meant for laughs anyway. I actually got called out myself not too long ago on a serious discussion because someone claimed I didn't have anything useful to say since I was posting in a secondary thread

Besides, as far as I know, all the chat threads eventually get deleted at some point. When that happens, everyone's post count gets lowered accordingly.

I honestly won't be losing any sleep if my 3,500 posts from the USA chat disappear. 🤣

If you actually have something smart to say, I guess nobody will really care about your post count. 😉

If the post count doesn't actually matter, then why on earth are they even counting them in those specific subforums?

Well, for some people, it definitely does... you see folks who are practically permanent fixtures here but somehow have zero posts recorded, and then there are those who judge everyone else based strictly on their numbers... I'm curious if it doesn't look that way from your moderator perspective...

Honestly, I have no clue who came up with such a ridiculous rule in the first place... one minute everything is being tracked, then someone decides to do a "cleanup" and cuts the counts in half, then they stop counting off-topic chatter, and now we're back to doubling the post counts again...

I really think we should just let the counter do its job regardless of what anyone is typing... and besides, I wonder what all this obsession with counting actually means to you guys when you're constantly fighting with the system anyway...
or maybe it's just about separating the users who actually bring something meaningful to the table and help the community grow from the ones who are just dragging everything down... isn't that ultimately what "value" is all about...
