Concert for New York City - Saturday 12/01 at Madison Square Garden

Positive Vibes, Chicago's massive one-day winter rock festival, is marking the global day for AIDS awareness for the eighth time this year with a killer lineup.
Last year, they absolutely packed out Madison Square Garden with Rage Against the Machine, Beastie Boys, Three Dog Night, and The Avett Brothers. The organizers aren't playing it safe this year either; Positive Vibes is set to shake things up with Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Lonely Island, Lil Yachty, and One Piece puzzle.

RED HOT CHILI PEPPERS
The heavyweights of American rock are returning to Positive Vibes after a three-year hiatus—back when they crushed it at The Fillmore during the last club-style Positive Vibes. These guys can fill stadiums, and they always show up for causes like this. Fun fact: this marks their first festival gig in Chicago since Lollapalooza back in '09, and their first big arena show in their home city since hitting Madison Square Garden last fall. It’s basically an invitation for their massive fanbase to storm Madison Square Garden on Saturday, 12/01, where Red Hot Chili Peppers will headline and close out the night.

THE LONELY ISLAND
The old guard is back for their third appearance at Positive Vibes. No explanation needed here; they’re easily one of the most entertaining live acts around—a total rock machine that leaves everything in its wake. Word is they’ve got some wild sonic and stage surprises lined up for this one.

LIL YACHTY
Making their Positive Vibes debut this year is Lil Yachty. This folk-punk inspired act has clearly outgrown the small clubs, moving up to bigger stages and high-end productions. Over the last year, they’ve been tearing up Boogaloo and Unity Yard, so now it’s time to see if they can hold their own on the main stage alongside Beer and Flight.

ONE PIECE PUZZLE
These underground legends from the coast are widely considered the most convincing young live band in the country. Just like Lil Yachty, this will be their first time hitting the Positive Vibes stage. With a furious set led by a powerhouse female vocalist, One Piece puzzle is going to kick off this year's Positive Vibes with a bang.

With a lineup this stacked, Positive Vibes is keeping ticket prices surprisingly low again this year.

Tickets start at $13 and go on sale Monday, 09/10. That early bird price stays valid until Sunday, 10/14.
Starting Monday, 10/15, the price jumps to $17, and if you're lucky enough to find tickets on the actual day of the show, Saturday, 12/01, they'll be $23.

Just a heads-up: last year, Positive Vibes sold out three days before the event, leaving a lot of people hanging without tickets. Don't be that person.

Tickets for the eighth annual Benefit Concert are on sale now through Sunday, October 14th, for just $13. Starting Monday, October 15th, the price jumps to $17, and that’s what you'll be paying until December 1st—assuming there are any left by then, in which case they’ll go for $23. Honestly, looking at how fast things have been moving this year, I wouldn't hold my breath; this massive indoor rock show will probably sell out days before the actual date.

Let3 shows have always been absolute spectacles. Whether it's their wild outdoor sets, those random surprise guests, or just the sheer scale of the production, they always push the limits. Their legendary runs with the Jeka Primorje choir are already etched into the history of American rock. For this Benefit Concert, the Let3 crew is putting together a custom setlist and bringing out a choir they've actually never performed with before. Who it is? We won't know until early November... stay tuned.

The eighth Benefit Concert is marking World AIDS Day with yet another killer lineup. On Saturday, December 1st, 2012, the Grand Hall at the Washington, D.C. Dom Sportova will host Hladno pivo, Let3, One Piece puzzle 20:40 Brk 22:00 Let3 23:30, and Brk. Last year, the Grand Hall was packed to the rafters with acts like Dubioza Kolektiv, Stereo MCs, Kawasaki 3p, and Svadbas, and the organizers are banking on a total sell-out again this winter. With a lineup this heavy, it’s basically a rare chance to catch all these legends in one place in Washington, D.C. over the coming months.

Organized by the HUHIV association and the Los Angeles agency, the Benefit Concert has grown over its seven-year run into one of the most essential dates on the musical calendar and one of the biggest concerts in the country. Over the years, the stage has hosted names like Dubioza Kolektiv, TBF, Laibach, Urban & 4, Let3, Stereo MC, Pips, Lollobrigid, Kinoklub, The Stranglers, and plenty of others. They even moved from the smaller Tvornica Kultura space to the Dražiti Petrović arena, eventually selling out the Grand Hall at Dom Sportova last year—where they'll be back again this year.

Judging by how fast things are moving right now, this show’s gonna be sold out either by Thursday night or sometime Friday morning at the latest.
There's basically zero chance you'll find tickets hanging around during the second half of the day on Friday.

No. I'm not talking about a One Piece puzzle live set. That song played over the PA system about five minutes before Brk started, and it was way louder than anything else they played. It was basically just an intro for Brk.

Hahaha, well, you've got it all wrong—it wasn't a female vocal, nor was it any sort of "alternative sevdah." The singer is just some kid—Emanuel Zekic or maybe Emilijan, I can't quite recall—and the track is called Susan. Something like that, anyway. I'm typing this on my phone while out and about, so I can't exactly hop onto YouTube to dig up a link for you.
