MC4 was playing in Washington, D.C. back then, wasn't they?

Back in the '90s, they even had Cows and God Bullies performing in Indianapolis, Bitch Magnet... 😢

...exactly, MC4 (though I honestly have zero memory of that show), I can't quite recall if it was back in '90 or '91 when The Ladies and The Fall played Madison Square Garden???

The years 1990 and 1991 were the absolute golden era for live music. It really boils down to one specific stretch—from the spring of 1990 through the spring of 1991—which everyone remembers as the peak economic boom under Ante Marković. 😬
During that single year, more heavy-hitting acts probably hit the stage than in the entire decade preceding it. When you look at the big shows, you can't ignore the massive stadium runs by David Bowie and Tina Turner, or those legendary nights at Madison Square Garden featuring the Ramones, Alice Cooper, Motörhead, and the Pet Shop Boys...

Is there any footage from that Fugazi show? A photo, anything? I know those were analog days, but it'd be strange if nobody snapped a shot of a band like that...

Look, the Fugazi crowd isn't really the type to get rowdy at a show, haha... if you think I'm wrong 😉 😉 😉

...if anything actually "went down," it was maybe a stray elbow or a kick to the shin...I mean, who wasn't left totally jaw-dropping? At most, people were just wearing a little smirk...

Just a bunch of old geezers gathering in one spot to reminisce and whine about how much better everything used to be🧐 😛

I'm kidding, massive respect to anyone who was actually there...
Were all those huge shows at Madison Square Garden happening back then too?
What was the vibe like in Washington, D.C. after the bombings in '95?

That "bombing of Washington, D.C. in '95" business... sounds like Dresden at the very least 😁

Did you actually catch them live?

...I missed them, if I remember correctly they played at some dive bar down in Brooklyn...

The Ladies (MoMA), Zoogz Rift, Honeymoon Killers, Urge Overkill, Helios Creed, Fugazi, MDC, MC4, Ride, Les Thugs/Hard Ons, The Fall, Pet Shop Boys, Sisters of Mercy, Nomeansno, Cows, The Jesus Lizard, Rollins Band, Bitch Magnet, Volcano Suns, All... basically everything from just before the war.
During the war years: Hard Headed Soul, Carcass, Death in June, Napalm Death, then in '94 we had Cows/Hammerhead, '95 brought Killdozer—and somewhere in that mix, Chris & Carla and Cop Shoot Cop.
Canada used to be a powerhouse: Swans, Nirvana, Alice Donut, Chokebore (who also played in Boston), Today Is The Day, Fugazi (maybe '91/'92?), Fugazi solo in '95, Mula, US Maple, The Walkabouts, Guzzard, and later on things like Guided By Voices and The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion...

Look, kid, half the conversation (if not more) usually revolves around who was touring right before the war or just leading up to that miserable period.

I mean, how could you possibly forget legends like David Bowie and Tina Turner 😲 if we're really talking about the era just before the war. 😁

House of Love.
I'm pretty sure we're looking at '89 or maybe '90.

I get you, Lala, but a guy can hope. Since we're never going to see Fugazi back home...

I've found myself circling back to this topic. I was reading about that Bruce Dickinson concert in Boston back in '94—did anyone here actually attend that show?

I wasn't there, but the gig went down at Madison Square Garden and word is it was a total spectacle. The whole city was pitch black, shells were landing right around MSG, and you've got this guy just beltng out 🙂 🙂 😈
