I actually filed my first appeal about ten days ago, but I got banned before I could even hear back from the mods regarding the actual complaint...

Long story short...

I’ve been posting in the religion sub since 2008. I might have made one or two posts back in the day that were considered offensive to the general public, but honestly, that was only because I just couldn't deal with the constant, daily bashing of Catholics—myself included. But those posts were ages ago, and I haven't done anything like that since...

And look, I have never once gone after someone personally with direct insults—you know, stuff like "you're stupid, you're an idiot, you're a freak" and all that junk...

If I did mess up, I guess I've already served part of my sentence, so maybe that should count as punishment enough. A permanent ban feels pretty illogical and way over the top to me...

So, because of all this, I’m asking you guys to lift the ban. I promise I won't cause any more trouble. Especially if the vibe in the religion sub starts improving. Actually, I promise even if things don't change at all...

Things have shifted a bit, I suppose. I don’t post much, nor do I spend much time reading—just glance at things here and there... I see Uncle Charlie has been cleaning things up a little... It's certainly an improvement over what Gregory Turner71 was doing... 🙂 However, someone else has surfaced who seems to take great pleasure in blaspheming against God, and honestly, given the filth they write, it’s probably better to just look away... 🙂

Honestly, you aren't missing anything with this subreddit, and besides, you're mostly just saving yourself from the frustration...!

I’m fully backing my good friend and fellow Redditor Arthur Flores2 on his appeal to get that partial ban on the Religion sub lifted—it’s a total loss for the community to lose such a great contributor.

Honestly, we’re all still reeling from the decision to partially ban him. Most of us feel he didn't even deserve it in the first place—and if he didn't, then what about the people who just tear the rules apart and slide by without any consequences? 😢 I hate seeing people get split up like this, but they can't just target someone like Arthur Flores2, who always tries to settle things with actual logic and solid arguments, so I really hope his appeal gets approved.

Thanks, catch you later.

Because of all this, I’m putting in a formal request to have my probation lifted. I give you my word—you won't have any trouble with me. Especially if things start looking up regarding the religious studies program. Actually, I promise I'll stay on track even if nothing changes at all...

We're dropping the probation, but please, take this seriously: if you slip back into those old habits, it’s going to trigger a permanent disciplinary action. And this time, there won't be a second chance.

Welcome back! 😬

You’ll be back soon enough. We’re just moving a bit slow because of the holidays.
Just one quick note here. Reddit—specifically the religion subforum—isn't a religious forum; it’s a forum *about* religion. In America, having a specific religious belief doesn't grant you any special status or extra protection here. You are perfectly free to criticize religious systems or even central religious figures. The only thing we prohibit is veering off-topic, especially by intentionally stirring up fights over highly emotional subjects. Lately, we’ve been working extra hard to minimize those kinds of provocations, but when it comes to the freedom to critique, nothing has changed. If you decide to come back, you’ll need to accept that criticizing things you personally hold sacred is a perfectly acceptable way to write here.

If memory serves me right, I wasn't even being biased just because someone tried to stop me from criticizing my faith...

And honestly, calling for the removal of Catholics is illegal, so we’ll be reporting that kind of stuff to the police instead of just telling the moderators...

We can switch over to the Religion thread now.

If my buddy ego wasn't clear enough, hopefully I am: we have zero tolerance for this stuff.
