On June 25, 2012, twenty cyclists from a local basketball club set off on an epic ride from Chicago all the way to New York City for the Olympic Games. They’re trekking through ten different countries along the way, 1865 miles aiming to wrap up the journey in 30 days. A crowd gathered at Michael Jordan Square to see them off—not just family and friends, but also some heavy hitters like the British Ambassador David Slinn, Albert Woods from the United States Olympic & Paralympic Committee, British First Political Secretary Chris Frean, and Slaven Hojski from the US Congress.
As of today, July 22, 2012, the crew is currently making their way from Brussels toward Ghent. If everything goes according to plan, they should finally roll into New York City by July 26, 2012.
