Benjamin King2 said:Around here, besides Logitech, I haven't seen any other mechanical keyboards. Check out the keyboard lineup over at Logitech.

If you're looking for an all-rounder, you’ve basically got the 7G or the 6Gv2. Everything else on the market is strictly built for gaming. If you actually need a palm rest, then the 7G is your only real option.

Stores: Where can you pick up Logitech gear in America? Check out this list of retailers.

Thanks.

Have you actually tried playing on either of them?
What does it feel like?

Besides, I'm moving to England soon, so it’ll definitely be the better call there.
Any other recommendations?

Yeah, I’ve got the 6Gv2 myself. Honestly, you should probably just scroll back up and check out that link I dropped in post #3—it’s loaded with a ton of actually useful info regarding mechanical keyboards.

so, have you actually sat down and played on either of those two?
what’s the vibe like?

anyway, I’m actually moving to England soon, so finding something decent there is probably going to be the smarter play.
got any other recommendations floating around?

I mean, I’m kind of with you on that—it’ll be way easier to track down the perfect keyboard over there than it is here, though if I were in your shoes, I’d honestly just go used because they are sooo much cheaper !!!
and honestly, they're practically indestructible as it is.

dustybear9 said:I actually agree with you on one thing—you'll definitely find a keyboard that fits your vibe over there much easier than here. Honestly, though? I'd say go for it because prices are way, way lower!!!
but saying it that way is just plain wrong!!!

I've been scouring Amazon, eBay, and some of the big electronics retailers, and I haven't seen anything cheaper than what we have right here.

If you're looking for an all-rounder, you could go with the 7G or the 6Gv2—the others are pretty much built strictly for hardcore gaming. Plus, if having a palm rest is a dealbreaker for you, the 7G is really your only shot there.

Here's what I found:

Hi there. I was wondering if anyone knows where I can pick up some budget-friendly mechanical keyboards around here? I'm looking for the kind that go for about $60 in the US, rather than the ones priced at $100 or more.

I’m looking for some advice here.😉

So, I have a laptop, and I’m thinking about picking up a dedicated keyboard to hook up to it. I really want to stop using the built-in laptop keyboard and have something more comfortable.
But here's my dilemma... I’m honestly not sure what kind of keyboard I actually need for this to work.🤷

Should I go with wireless, or would a wired one be better? Also, if I go wireless, am I going to be constantly swapping out batteries, just like with a wireless mouse?
That’s actually one of the main reasons I’m leaning away from the wireless option right now.

Technology isn't exactly my forte, so please, any and all tips are welcome!😛

Keyboard batteries usually last a decent amount of time—you shouldn't really have to mess with replacements for at least six months. Plus, let's be real, wireless setups tend to run about twice the price of your standard wired ones.

Take this one, for example—it’s got a solid built-in touchpad and some actual power-saving tech that shuts things down after about five minutes of inactivity if you aren't touching it:

So, the move here is definitely going wireless.

If the battery life is actually that decent, then it’s really not much of a headache.
Thanks for the heads-up! I think I'll head over to Best Buy to poke around and check out the details before making a final call. I'm assuming I could always plug in a wired keyboard to my laptop if I had to. My main priority is just finding something that isn't total junk and will actually hold up over time.

If the batteries last that long, it’s hardly an issue.
Thanks for the tip. I'll hit up some Best Buy locations to check out the specifics before making a call. I'm assuming I can just plug a wired one into my laptop anyway. All I care about is getting something that isn't total junk and actually lasts.

The guy told you wired ones are way cheaper, so just stick to whatever fits your budget.

Anyway, if you want wireless, I'd suggest this one: http://www.nabava.net/trazilica.php?...logitech+k+350

Solid keyboard. Pretty sure there's a wired version too, or maybe a combo with a mouse.

If the batteries actually last as long as they claim—which, let's face it, they usually do—then it's really not a huge deal.
Thanks for the heads-up. I’ll probably head over to Best Buy or just browse online to dig into the specifics before I pull the trigger on one. Honestly, you should just pick whichever one feels right under your fingers. 🙂

Regardless of which way you go, you're going to need a USB port. For instance, if you want a solid wired option—something that doesn't have those mushy, shallow keys you get on most laptops—check this out:

To plug either of them in, you're going to need a USB port. For instance, here’s a decent wired keyboard—not one of those mushy, shallow ones you find on cheap laptops: http://www.amazon.com/lenovo-usb-keyboard/dp/B00T33V7XW

Fair enough. Well, thanks everyone for all the advice and the links to good keyboards.
Price is definitely a factor for me—I don't want to drop a fortune on the most expensive model, but I also don't want to buy the absolute cheapest thing out there. Somewhere in the $15 to $30 range should be the sweet spot.

I have one more quick question, just speaking as a total amateur here. Why are wireless keyboards actually more expensive?😕
Is it just because they don't have a cord, or is it because they offer a smoother typing experience or less noise?

Can anyone give me some keyboard recommendations? Looking for something on the budget side, maybe under $33... but I really want the typing experience to be as smooth and comfortable as possible. And please, save the comments about how "if you want quality, you have to drop serious cash" on me. I respect everyone's opinion here, truly, but just stick to the question 🙂 because after typing for a while, my hands start getting seriously fatigued. It’s like the keys are way too deep or something, you have to bottom them out just to get a response... anyway, if you've got a suggestion, let me know. If not, thanks regardless 🙂

Personally, I’ve found Gigabyte keyboards pretty comfortable to type on—they have this soft feel, almost like a high-end laptop. But look, "comfort" is totally subjective, isn't it? My advice? Head down to a store and actually test a few out until you find "the one." Big retailers like > or > usually have floor models you can play with. And yeah, maybe you shouldn't have asked this in this specific thread. 😉

Jeffrey Chavez6 said:It looks like you might have cut off there! What happened? You were saying "Meni su se..." — did your parts break? Did the shipping get delayed again? Whatever it was, I'm all ears. Go ahead and finish that thought. Gigabyte keyboards... honestly, what can I even say about them? Sometimes I feel like I'm just throwing money into a black hole when I buy peripherals. You think you're getting something solid, and then—bam—one key starts sticking or the backlight looks like a cheap neon sign from a roadside motel. It’s frustrating, man. I've spent way too many late nights staring at my desk, wondering why I didn't just go straight to Best Buy and get something reliable instead of gambling on these brands. Just my two cents. They feel pretty smooth to type on, almost like those laptop keys—really soft—but honestly, "comfortable" is such a subjective thing, isn't it? You can't just take my word for it. I’d highly recommend heading down to a store and actually testing out a few different models until you find "the one." Big retailers like Best Buy usually have plenty of keyboards on display specifically so you can try them before buying. And yeah... maybe you shouldn't have posted this question in this specific thread. 😉

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, you're right—it’s probably best if I just head down there and try it out for myself. That's exactly what I'm gonna do. And hey, my bad for posting this in the wrong thread. My mistake. 🙂

Hey, can someone confirm if this is actually a mechanical keyboard with blue switches? I don't see any real photos proving it, and honestly, the price looks a bit too good to be true.

It feels more than just questionable to me; I’m honestly worried it might just be a membrane keyboard with a "mechanical" feel. At least if it shows up and isn't actually mechanical, you can file a dispute once it arrives.

Look at one of the comments asking if it's mechanical or membrane—the reply points toward it being membrane...

While here the description claims "mechanical feel"...

I'm pretty sure it isn't actually mechanical.
