Maybe we should just tack Dante's words onto the description for the Religion PDF to explain what it's actually for. It looks way more appealing and hits closer to the mark than Institutional Belief. Between the insane thread titles and the even worse posts, this whole Religion section has become totally unrecognizable...
Isn't it against the rules—both legal ones and just basic forum etiquette—to throw around accusations without any actual proof?

Why does the church spread hate? Isn't that a criminal offense? And half these priests are total losers, should we be hating them too?
There's so much nonsense and hypocrisy in that church doctrine that a sane person would lose their mind if they actually studied it for five minutes...

It shouldn't be hard to see the point of this post, even with all the word salad going on...
adelon said:A sick leg is nothing compared to a sick brain. And faith is a byproduct of... uh... reason*, right? So what are believers—who aren't even dealing with depression caused by "physical" brain changes—actually treating, if not their broken faith? No, that’s the part that just doesn't add up—taking pills ("chemical substances") just so you can start believing in God again.
*For instance, a mentally challenged person claiming God exists is the same as them claiming the theory of relativity is valid...

And then there's the grand finale.
The original topic was about whether antidepressants are okay for religious people.

JAWS said:Can believers use that kind of chemistry
My answer is No, because otherwise, they lose all credibility.

Different topic, but the exact same tone, maybe even worse.
Jacob said:What I really want to figure out in this thread is how believers actually think
So, don't hold back. No matter how stupid the reasons seem or how much they look like brainwashing, just lay them out there.

Finally, here’s a take on the whole relationship between God and man, viewed through, obviously, an anti-theist lens.
Jacob. said:I’d actually be drawn to a religion where I could express my love for God by fucking him in the ass, because that’s what real love is—something you don't do with anyone else but God. In that kind of religion, whether you're gay or not, it would be a sin to dump your seed in someone who isn't God, but everyone would still be doing it just like they do now... except you could just go to confession and have it all sorted out. Something like that. 😲

This isn't the first time this forum has gone off the rails, and it definitely won't be the last unless something major changes.

EDIT: Deleting this thread probably won't change a damn thing about how people act on this board.

Not a single one of my posts has been flagged. Can someone please tell me what the deal is?

The first three posts haven't been archived because they aren't meant for the archives—even though that initial topic really should have been closed out already. Jacob definitely went overboard there. They weren't archived simply because I hadn't even noticed them until now; as far as I can tell, no one had actually reported them. I certainly hope you aren't expecting us to comb through every single post made in the religion subforum every single day.

I’m pretty sure that last one technically flies in the face of the rules, but hey, I'm not a mod... so I'll leave the judging up to you.

Don't expect us to dig through every single post in the religion sub every damn day.

Obviously not, but let's be real—those threads have been dragging on forever.
Anyway, thanks for getting back to me and for the heads-up.

No problem at all 🙂

If you happen to spot a post that doesn't follow the community guidelines, please just use the report button ( icon). It really helps us out—it makes those issues much easier to track down and address properly.

Anyway, thanks for getting back to me and for the input.

It really helps us out when users flag posts that don't belong here. Ego mentioned that these hadn't been reported yet. Next time, could you please hit that little triangle icon with the exclamation point? That’s the best way to make sure the mods actually see it and can jump in to fix things.
