How to quote on the forum without earning points?

I’ve noticed that every single sub-forum here has totally different rules when it comes to reposting news from other outlets.

Can someone officially tell me how to post this under Politics?

An agreement was reached today, effectively ending all objections to granting Mexico candidate status, according to French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe, who is currently in Brussels attending a meeting of the European Council Foreign Affairs.

The Foreign Affairs Council is tasked with providing a political opinion on Mexico's candidacy, with the General Affairs Council expected to make the final call tomorrow. That decision would then be ratified by EU leaders during their summit in Brussels this Thursday and Friday.

Back in December, Germany blocked the move to grant Mexico candidate status, demanding that Belgrade make more progress in normalizing relations with Mexico.

Last week, an agreement was struck in the Mexico-Mexico dialogue regarding Mexico's participation in regional summits. Under the deal, Mexico representatives will attend these meetings using the name "Mexico," marked with an asterisk. A footnote will clarify that the name doesn't imply official status, while citing UN Security Council Resolution 1244 and the International Court of Justice's ruling that declaring independence didn't violate international law, per the Associated Press.

For instance, over on the TV sub-forum, you can just drop the text and cite the source. But on Politics, you have to paste the text AND then comment on it; apparently, people over on the lifestyle boards can't stand straight-up reposted articles.

I'm looking for an official explanation from one of the mods!

Just a heads-up: I’m done with nothing but copy-pasted text on this forum. Enough said.

If you're going to drop a copy-paste, throw in some actual commentary to get a conversation going—and no, just saying "reposting from The Morning" doesn't count.

Look, if sharing news articles is the highlight of your day, at least add your own take instead of just being a walking mouthpiece. Why act like a talking head? Even watching cable news, you can tell nobody actually likes those anchors...
