Is this actually the right sub-forum for this? 🀷
Anyway... So, I've got this little Netbook running a GMA 3150. Now, the 3150 itself can technically push up to 1400x1050 (4:3), which is cool and all. But the Netbook itself is natively just 1024x600 on a tiny 10.1" screen. I've been using NewRez to force it way past that, thoughβ€”obviously, the higher you crank the resolution, the blurrier things get, so I figured somewhere around 1350x768 is probably the sweet spot before it looks like total mush.

I’m looking to pick up an external monitor, but honestly, there isn't a huge visual difference to me between 1366x768 and 1920x1080 (maybe like $100 bucks or even less if I find a deal). Plus, I really don't want to get stuck capped at 768p. Since my main laptop is already sitting at that resolution, I want a monitor that works for both the Netbook and the laptop whenever I need it.

Here's the big question: Is there any way to get this legendary GMA 3150 to play nice with anything higher than 1400x1050 via emulation on, say, a 22" screen? Like, can I actually make it look decent without it being a total eyesore? Ideally, I'd love to hit 1600x900 (or even higher, obviously, if the hardware won't explode)...

Just borrow a monitor from someone and give it a shot.

Haha, I honestly don't know anyone who actually uses a monitorβ€”it feels like everyone is just glued to their laptops these days. The one person I know who still rocks a desktop setup is running some ancient 19" screen with a 1280x1024 resolution, so yeah, that’s definitely not helping us here either. Lol. Anyway, feel free to lock this thread.

So, even though the GPU's official limit is stuck at 1400x1050, I've been running it at 1920x1080 without much of an issue. The only real catch is that my Netbook & runs a little hotter than usual. Anyway, just picked up a new monitor, obviously!
