I guess Mark Wahlberg leads the cast in "Contraband," which seems to be an intense thriller about a man trying to escape a life he’s been running from for a long time, all while doing whatever it takes to protect his family. Set in New Orleans, the story dives into the dangerous world of international smuggling—where you have desperate criminals, corrupt cops, high stakes, and massive payouts—it feels like a place where loyalty is rare and danger is everywhere.

Grabbed it today—two 350mb files—so I’ll probably dive in over the next few days. The audio sounds pretty promising so far.

The IMDb rating is spot on.

It’s a solid, entertaining watch with moments of genuine tension, even if it doesn't reinvent the wheel. There are a few decent twists. The ending had the potential to be legendary, but some executive clearly made a different call. As for why the movie stays tense? It's Kate Beckinsale. Honestly, I don't think there's a man alive who wouldn't take Ribisi's head off if he laid a finger on her.

Wahlberg is wooden, as per usual. Beckinsale is great playing a mother caught in a mess. Ribisi nails the villain, but Foster steals every single scene he's in. It's wild how much untapped talent that guy actually has.

Overall, a good flick.

I have to agree with John Peterson3 on this one... though, I will say, Kate Beckinsale is such a knockout, it's actually hard to believe. Ugh, overall, I'd give it a 4/10.

So, I just finished watching this flick and figured I’d swing by to drop my two cents.

The movie isn't exactly bad, but let's be real—it’s not exactly a masterpiece either. It sits somewhere slightly below average, though it's still an okay watch. There were moments where the pacing picked up and the plot actually felt interesting, but man, it really could have been executed so much better than it was.
I mean, we've all seen this kind of thing a thousand times before, right? But hey, if you're just looking for something to pass the time, it’s definitely worth a single viewing just for the entertainment value.

This movie is actually a remake of that Icelandic film Reykjavík Rotterdam, which landed an Oscar nomination back in 2008. Honestly, I wasn't impressed by this version at all, much like I wasn't particularly moved by the original...
